Yeah posts like that I will remove. It sucks to be banned for joking around and not even doing anything malicious, but when it comes to serious PI like that I'm not going to let it sit there while I try to figure out what to do with it.   Was PMing him about it, and if he hadn't continued to post it as I considered the matter he never would have been warned.

I'm starting to feel that the verification process is an impractical way of handling PI.

Lanny I know you think this PI stuff is all ridiculous, lame, and impossible to enforce.  Some people though have had their PI leaked against their will, and suffered strange RL consequences for it.  I received death threats in the mail years ago.  It's some scary stuff.

And really, is it such a big deal not being allowed to post fake PI?  Don't let spec troll you into getting banned imo :/

I'm not trying to antagonize you here equanimity, do whatever you think is in accordance with the site rules. I'm just trying to make a point about how silly the rules are, and if I get banned for it then my point will be made and I'll reg up an alt, no biggie.

And I agree, getting your PI leaked sucks and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. However these rules don't stop that, the penalty is literally nothing and a dozen people saw that I posted before you edited it.


So now I'd like to point out that my post has been edited without verification happening. This raises some questions. How long do we have to wait for spectral to reply before I can post that info again? What happens if I post it again (doing so won't be breaking any rules)? Since you've already verified something else is actually spectral's real name, why are you verifying this as well?

If Lanny insists that is in fact my personal info, we can only take him on his word that it is and he should be banned for posting the private information of a member. If the board has no element of anonymity, no integrity as far as focus on content over kidiot, that will surely keep new users away, especially in boards like Bad Ideas.
