Don't be fucking stupid infinity.  The protection part is key for two reasons:
1. It makes the story more believable.
2. Subtle way to tell her that OP "bottoms".

1. the believability depends on his acting skills.
2. thats a stupid assumption.  aids can be transmitted via pitcher or catcher
