No, I used it as an example of how absurd they standard progressive story becomes that even on the largest subreddits, generally dominated by the left, common opinion eventually turns against them. Don't tell me you haven't noticed that every single time a racial event such as this occurs the vast majority of leftist media automatically completely sides with the minority and provides a highly biased, unbalanced, inaccurate, and distorted journalism.

That being said, I do think that even though the reddit user base, at least for the more popular boards which become subject to the law of averages, drawing in more common people of lower intellect and lowering the quality in contrast to, say, subreddits like r/science, technology, nootropics, which due to self-selection tend to draw people of considerably higher intellect and knowledge, which leads to higher overall quality, tend to have a strong progressive bias, countervailing factors are the upvoting system, which allows strong sound arguments to have a much higher chance of exposure and rising to the top, along with being primarily male, which means they significantly lean more towards thinking on the scale of thinking-feeling relative to women, have greater emotional control, and generally a better grasp of logic and reasoning and less of a biological inclination towards leftism (I can back this up, there are factors that predispose people towards certain ideologies).

My point was the very fact that a community is able to change it's collective opinion implies that said opinion is based on something which has changed over time. The obvious variable is evidence. We ought to praise communities, as well as individuals, for having the intellectual integrity to reverse a judgement in the face of additional evidence.

It shouldn't have taken this long for the consensus to turn against Brown and from the start the bias was strongly and overwhelmingly in favor of him despite readily available evidence, if they would ever venture out of their narrow progressive bubble, that should have cause a reasonable person doubt. That's a clear sign of bias, of a deficiency in logic and reasoning, and it should be condemned. This happens every single time. And the majority of the left still sides with Brown, the most upvoted comments in reddit posts aren't representative of all members of a community.

I can't address this specific issue since I don't know anything about it but my point was, as stated, a community reversing an opinion is not grounds to criticize. If there really was bias to start with (probably wasn't since you see liberal bias in every shadow) then fine, bias, that's bad. But overcoming bias is the last thing anyone should be criticizing.

We already augment our existence with technology, with medication, why decide to draw an arbitrary line at some point? Most people who are critical of transhumanism are probably so due to not actually understanding it, the naturalistic fallacy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalistic_fallacy), or misconceptions. You probably see it as some unrealistic trekkie neckbeard bullshit. Well, yeah, a lot of self described transhumanists probably do fit that profile (Lanny), but predictions of when certain things will occur, when technologies will be available, are beside the point. It's probably not going to happen in 5 years, it might take a few decades, but when it does, it's going to have phenomenal and fascinating effects on human society, the human experience. There's absolutely no reason why this is unfeasible, if you're well read you've likely come across stories about technology currently available or that's being developed that demonstrates the possibility of a clear trajectory towards flat out augmentation of even non-disordered human beings. Most people are simply dumb as shit, don't fucking read, and barely understand anything, anything that they can't currently buy is science fiction to them and they'll just look at you with a dumb look on their face as if you're describing magic.
