I never criticized that. I already addressed that point, and stated that the fact that even those knuckleheads turned against Brown shows how ludicrous the progressive narrative is.
I like you now, even though I still think transhumanism is bullshit
Why? If you could upgrade your body with augmentations, such as these:
http://deusex.wikia.com/wiki/Augmentationwould you, would you like to? Then congratulations, you're a transhumanist.
We already augment our existence with technology, with medication, why decide to draw an arbitrary line at some point? Most people who are critical of transhumanism are probably so due to not actually understanding it, the naturalistic fallacy (
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Naturalistic_fallacy), or misconceptions. You probably see it as some unrealistic trekkie neckbeard bullshit. Well, yeah, a lot of self described transhumanists probably do fit that profile (Lanny), but predictions of when certain things will occur, when technologies will be available, are beside the point. It's probably not going to happen in 5 years, it might take a few decades, but when it does, it's going to have phenomenal and fascinating effects on human society, the human experience. There's absolutely no reason why this is unfeasible, if you're well read you've likely come across stories about technology currently available or that's being developed that demonstrates the possibility of a clear trajectory towards flat out augmentation of even non-disordered human beings. Most people are simply dumb as shit, don't fucking read, and barely understand anything, anything that they can't currently buy is science fiction to them and they'll just look at you with a dumb look on their face as if you're describing magic. Fucking commoners.
I myself am interested in acquiring some augmentations other than my current drug regime. Take a look at this and tell it's not fucking cool:
http://www.stromamedical.com/page/patient-info-faqThe Strōma procedure is a simple, outpatient procedure that uses a gentle, low-energy laser to change the color of the patient’s eyes from brown to blue.
After the procedure, however, many patients will have a so-called “limbal ring,” which is a ring of dark pigment around the outer perimeter of a light iris. This can be very attractive. Consider the green eyes of Sharbat Gula, the Afghan woman featured on the cover of the June 1985 issue of National Geographic Magazine. If the patient has this feature, there is nothing we can or would do to remove it. If a patient does not have this feature, our procedure might be able to leave some pigment around the iris perimeter to create the appearance of a natural limbal ring.
Definitely getting the limbal ring. The eyes of a demon. Will head out of the country to get it cheaper and sooner at a hospital that caters to medical tourists. Should be available next year.
A vasectomy could also be considered a form of augmentation. Snip the vas deferens and you'll never have to worry about getting a girl pregnant. I'd consider that a massive benefit, and lifelong at that.
