You're lucky to have gotten out alive.

You're lucky to have gotten out alive.

That is not the impression I got.  I felt like I shouldn't be there, but no feeling that he or it was aggressive.  He barely even acknowledged us, just a quick glance towards us when we first got there, then another turn and quick look once we got to the bottom of the hill.

This place was pretty far from any civilization, there was no cars there so if it was a guy he would have had to walk like 20 miles to get there, and it was the middle of the day on no particular special day.  That is why I discount 'occult' activity or some bum drinking in some forgotten graveyard at Mississinewa lake.

It was either some wierd old guy with a white painted face and a mildewed old clown suit, or some kind of living statue type thing.  That is what it looked like to me, a terra cotta statue.

When I was a kid my mom moved us from the kimmelbrook projects to north lima ohio, and it was pretty much endless wilderness.  I spent half my childhood and all my adolescence in the woods, and I have seen all sorts of people out in the wilderness.  This was something way out of the ordinary, and I wouldn't bother posting it if it was 'An old guy wearing old clothes at a graveyard being still and minding his own business'.

An old guy wearing old clothes at a graveyard being still and minding his own business. There's just no explanation.

we were all trespassing there, but this 'guy' barely glanced at us, and showed no other reaction.  Any old guy hanging out in some 150 year old cemetary would at least show concern that we were there, since we could have been game wardens or the cops or whatnot.  There was no booze bottles or other refuse showing that anyone was there.

You didn't read the whole thing?  I did go back, even looked for shoe marks, but there was a thick layer of moist leaves everywhere and no signs anything was there.

Ok after thinking about this for a while, I came up with the following prosaic theory:  It was some guy, in a tan 'duster' type trench coat, with light colored hair, and he was sitting on a gravestone.  There were a lot of those square type gravestones there with the inscription on the top.  He was doing a 'rubbing', with paper and charcoal.  He was busy, hence his lack of response.  There are some cool old gravestones there, so this is the most probable explanation.  Him sitting up on a gravestone would explain the height.  I didn't see any vehicle around though.

What I thought was a statue was not a statue, it was alive.  It was huge, too.
... Not even any shoe prints around where we saw it.  I still don't know what I saw, but it was humanoid, huge, and it moved very calmly and smoothly.

It is likely that you are right.

still wierd, his attire and lack of transportation, and he was like all the same color...but yeah, what else would it be?  Some guy, 20 miles from any real town, with no car, out doing grave rubbings in some graveyard in the woods.  There was only one place to park and a fence on one side, a creek on the other.

Well if he was sitting on a grave it would explain the heighth, these graves are like, square and three feet tall or so, I will see if I can find a picture

It is hard as fuck to find a picture of the same kind of gravestone for some reason.  They looked like this,

but bigger and taller, big enough to sit on and have room to spare.  I didn't actually see it sitting on anything, but these sort of gravestones are in the area so it is possible.  The graveyard is all overgrown so I couldnt see the lower half of whatever it is.  Like I said, as I walked up the hill before we even got to the graveyard, I saw the back of whatever it was, it was facing away from me, and it was like 30 yards or so.  It looked exactly like a statue of a saint or something, maybe part of a grave marker, but it was terra-cotta colored all over.  It had been a while since I had been at this place, and I was reassured by the 'statue' that I was on the right path to get to the graveyard.  It moved, though.
