It's time to review the RULES!
« on: October 08, 2014, 11:46:27 pm »
Lately, I've been getting a lot of whining because some people just CAN'T READ the one thread in this entire site that ACTUALLY MATTERS.

So we're going to go over them again.

Quote
First and foremost, although this is not really a rule, you must remember that anything you post at Sanctuary is hypothetical and the site administrators and users are in no way liable for anything you say or do at or as a result of the nature of this site. In other words, don't incriminate yourself.

1. No spam. This means posts that are not relevant or do not add anything at all to the thread or the discussion in it. ('this's are allowed though) This also means threads which do not add anything to the sub-forum it's posted in. Necrobumping without contributing something to the thread and completely illegible posts or threads are also spam.
2. No child porn is to be posted in any way. Child porn is porn of anyone under the age of 18.
3. No IRL bestiality is to be posted in any way.
4. No personal information of any users on Sanctuary is to be given out. The only exception to this rule is if someone posts their own PI PUBLICLY ON THE SITE. That is IT.
5. No advertising your own site, service, or thing unless publicly cleared to do so by an admin or global mod. This also includes people affiliated with the creation, maintenance, or advertisement of a site, service, or thing.
6. No breaking into or attempting to deface or damage the site or its host in any way. No links to programs that could damage or deface the site or its host are allowed in threads or posts. Instructions on how or where to obtain such programs are also not allowed.
7. No ban evading.

While alt accounts aren't expressly prohibited, if I find someone who has such, I may just slip up and "accidentally" make some small little changes to their accounts. (yes, plural) To make sure these mistakes don't happen, all alt accounts should be approved by me or another admin.

If we find that you are removing your posts by editing them out, unless you've accidentally double-posted, your account will be frozen until further notice. This means that you will be completely unable to edit your profile, your posts, or your polls. What gets posted here stays here.

Images in signatures must be REASONABLY SIZED. If the offending parties keep using massive signatures after they have been told to resize, they will lose their signature privileges completely for an indefinite period of time. Signatures are also no exception to the seven rules.

Punishments will be handed out on a case by case basis mostly depending on the severity of the offending action or actions. For most small offenses though, a warning will usually be given first. If you feel you've been punished unfairly, you may contact an admin about it by email. HOWEVER, keep in mind that most, if not all of the time, an admin (me included) will stand by a global moderator's decision. We pick our staff VERY carefully and hold them to a rigorous standard. For more information on this subject, please see the stickied topic on Staffing Policies.

Now, if you DON'T UNDERSTAND any part of the rules, or you DISAGREE with one or some them, post about it here. Now's the time. Because later, I DEFINITELY don't want to hear how you didn't know this or that was a rule nor do I want to hear about how unfair a certain rule is right when you're on the receiving end of punishment for breaking it.

If you break a rule, you WILL BE PUNISHED for breaking it. This is simple, people.

Time is always against you in some way or another.

What don't you understand about them?

The question is, what don't you guys understand about them?  On one hand, your rules state that alts are not prohibited, and it is recommended (it says 'should') that one get permission.  On the other hand, you and your moderators act as if alts are prohibited, and that 'punishments' will be handed out if one doesn't follow the 'recommendations', which are apparently mandatory, although I do not see that anywhere in the rules.

the terrible totalitarian tranny mod

I don't appreciate the insinuations you have been making, that 'I will go and make an incredibly obvious alt' and that I ever even implied that anyone was a tranny (except hc45), totalitarian, or a terrible mod.  None of these things are true.

A few quick thoughts off the top of my head....

1) Spam .....If you are SERIOUS about this rule, you'll increase the quality of this board significantly. But DO you have the fortitude to enforce it? Only time will tell

2) Child Porn....You probably need to spell out more clearly your definition of what constitutes child porn (or maybe just porn in general), because there are still a handful of prudish virgins/victims that actually believe some 14 year old tart in a bikini is in that realm.

"While alt accounts aren't expressly prohibited".....You absolutely NEED to change the verbiage of that rule, because its very vague and obscure. Part of the reason I never said anything about Unbreakable's army of alts, because that wording doesn't seem to take the whole thing very seriously at all.

"Images in signatures must be REASONABLY SIZED".....Do you really consider Bling's signature "reasonably sized"? Its your site and you can set whatever standards you like, but to me its loud, obnoxious and gawdy.....more appropriate for a Justin Beiber site, or something dedicated to Nickelodeon/Disney.

"Punishments will be handed out on a case by case basis mostly depending on the severity of the offending action or actions. For most small offenses though, a warning will usually be given first."..... Going back to Cats/Niglets issues with "alt account", if you are sincere about "case by case" basis, why such a heavy handed approach with him? He's not a troll, hasn't given you any grief at all, as a matter of fact is one of the few (if not only) posters NOT giving you shit about modding Zek. Its baffling that you imply having a sense of objectivity depending on each scenario, but in the other thread you are very staunchly stating..."rules are rules"...like an indignant school marm. Either change the verbiage in that rule, or take heed of your own words and actually practically apply it in the spirit you are implying.

"We pick our staff VERY carefully and hold them to a rigorous standard."......*giggles* No, you don't. You modded Zek after all, and if you consider his posting habits and behavior still after being modded as being a "rigorous standard"....you either need to get your eyes checked or increase your standards to something loftier than the underbelly of your common garden slug.

probably a good idea to hard-restrict them to a maximum of 200x600 or something, or even disable images in sigs altogether.

I recommend disabling signatures from your user control panel though; the site's faggotry per page ratio drops significantly unless you're viewing a zek thread.

Dawg do you ever discuss anything besides forum rules, administration and shit?  Do you not have any interests besides forum politics and wrestling? I've never seen you post anything worth reading. You enter the fantasy football thread and make a couple posts then say I won't join like every other year.

Such a worthless faggot.

1. I would like to be approved for one of my great counting threads where I count, starting with 0, and post consecutively in each post as others cheer me on.  These usually go for many pages.

6. I would like permission to pen. test the sites security.  Web application only, for now.  No damage would be done.

But as punishment, I'm not going to make any changes. Instead, I think I'm going to leave it up to equanimity. She'll the decide the, uh... Makeover of your accounts. The changes will be temporary but for a rather long time...

Absolutely fucking disgusting.

The no PI rule has always been untenable on every site that's tried to enforce it. Even if you set up hard lines on what is and isn't grey areas always appear, there are places you want to enforce the rule but can't or places where you have to by the letter of the law but don't want to. People will bitch about it from now until the end of time.

Registration is open, if someone's PI is out there and they have a problem with that then they can register a new handle and the problem is solved. Next time they just won't post their their own info. Easy or remember and enforce.

it would probably be less confusing if we just made alts illegal.

the spam rule is enforced...often under the guise of "shitposting"

CP is pornography of underage persons. not that confusing. it either is, or it is not pornography...I'm sure there are images that fit in the middle, but if I come across something and there is any confusion, I'm just going to take it down.

I honestly don't understand why it is so hard for some people to not post PI

we should probably get a little more strict on the sig rule. looking at you blingbling.
Ill give you a hands-free prostate exam with the same instrument I use as a tongue depressor

Or....how about this:  The only rule is:  Only one account at a time.  If you make an alt, you stay an alt.

Having good clear rules is only half of what matters the way the rules are enforced and common sense are what is lacking here and that's what needs to be addressed and HAS been addressed constantly this thread is rediculously childish and shows your inability to effectively run a site
