Watch Doggies
« on: June 10, 2014, 06:16:48 pm »
Has anyone played this yet?  I've been seeing advertisements for it all over the web and commercials on every other tv channel.  I think the concept behind it is badass, but is it really all its cracked up to be?

It's not mind-blowingly amazing but it's pretty darn decent and definitely worth a look. Heard the multiplayer was great too.

If you're ever confused about if you should get a game, I would highly recommend Gamespot reviews. I find they're usually pretty accurate.

It's GTA with Batman gadgets. I played it for an hour in my local GAME and asked myself all the way through "why was this game so fucking hyped?".

It has achieved nothing that is worthy of five collectors editions, wallets, belts, hoodies, t-shirts, caps and all the other shit that's cluttering every video game store I walk into lately and in 12 months time when PS4/Xbone are actually being used as the baseline spec by the majority of devs, this game will look like shit and be as abundant in the bargain bins as Haze and fucking Clive Barker's Jericho.

Don't follow this guys advice that's retarded if you're confused about something you probably shouldn't go dropping 60 dollars or more on something wait till you have a better understanding and view of what it is.

I've played through it and it is VERY mediocre and is mostly a victim of its own hype. The mechanics are solid enough but they've been done in every other free roam game ubisoft has done. The hacking is little more than contextualized button presses strewn about the city and while they are neat sometimes it boils down to hold x to do "thing". The morality system is broken and the street crimes are repetitive and ALWAYS increase your rep even if you blow of the head of a petty mugger in the street. The game just plain isn't where it should be graphically or performance wise either. The multiplayer is interesting in concept with an invasion type system but it boils down to pure luck for the hacker to win since the circle they give you to hide in shrinks to abysmal sizes, while freeroam is pretty lifeless without a large group of friends (PC users also have to rely on uplays shoddy servers).

Wait till it's on sale at the least especially if you're on PC it is a very very mediocre game that was REALLY rushed and pieced apart to be sold as later DLC. If you're starved for open world GTA 5 will be on next gen and pc soon so that should be cool especially since GTA 5 on last gen systems is still a better game.

Spectre and I both forgot to mention that the protagonist wears a baseball cap, a bandanna covering the lower half of his face and a leather trench coat, which is the fucking trifecta of faggotry.

Oh quite the main character fights crime with edge, faggotry, and a slight batman voice here and there.

Not kidding though the main character is awful most of the cast is

lol Whatever, guys. It's a game about hacking and GTA sandbox gameplay. That's what they said the game was gonna be and that's what they delivered on.

Before the game came out, Ubisoft released bullshots, lied about the degradation in graphics quality later on and tried to censor people who called them out on it. They didn't release the same game they were advertising for two years and on top of all that they've released it with one of the most anti-consumerist distribution models ever seen in this industry.

All that and the game offers nothing we haven't seen before. I think calling Watch Dogs shit is a valid opinion.

Graphics hits and distribution aside, it's still the same game. Yeah, it's not that different, but to call it "shit" is too harsh in my opinion.

Having played through the entirety of the game I can assure you it's not the same game and it DOES suffer from extremely anti consumer policies

Thank you for all the feedback, I made the switch from console to PC a while back when I found out about torrents and haven't looked back since.  From what y'all have said it seems like its not even worth playing, which is a little disappointing, but expected.  Guess we will have to keep waiting for GTA V to hit the PC

EDIT:

As an addendum; I was in my local Game branch back in March picking up a game I'd actually preordered (Deception IV) and after I'd paid, the kid who served me was doing the usual thing where they hold your purchase hostage and tell you all about a bunch of shit games and deals you never asked about. He asks me if I want to preorder Watch Dogs and I tell him no. He then says, verbatim "It's like a GTA game where you can hack everything it's definitely gonna be GOTY bro".

So I ask "Wow, have you played it?" to which he replys "no, but it looks amazing dude". I then looked him straight in the eye and said "bro, if you haven't played it, how the fuck can you tell me it's GOTY, dude?" in an almost whisper but with the "fuck" loud enough for the rest of the shop to hear. He gave me the look he probably gave the first girl who pointed and laughed at his dick, handed me my purchase and walked away without saying another word.

I was reminded of this because Ubisoft are anti-consumer, the majority of publishers are anti-consumer and the retailers that sell us games are anti-consumer too. The whole thing is full of cunts.

Do you have downs or something?

Are you one of those faggots who think that Gamespot's completely corrupt or something even though they have no problem tearing popular games a new one?

:'( simply beautiful. The whole hype train bullshit needs to die it perpetuates 90% of anti consumer bull shit preorder and "limited edition" packaging and watch_dogs is a fine example it could have been an ok solid 7-8/10 but they had to hype to 11 and rush to a 3
