Day 2 with l-theanine and now I love it so much I'm gonna get 50g or so this weekend methinks
What are you using it for? I've been taking it for about two months now and quite like it. Usually I take 200 mg theanine with 300 mg caffeine and 20 mg of Noopept twice a day, once when I wake up and then again in the afternoon.
Well I had this weird anxiety pop up for no reason at all this past weekend, and it just so happens that this week I decided to taper off tianeptine, and my roommate happens to have a bag of l-theanine, so I sampled 200mg, found it destroyed the anxiety symptoms, then asked him for a couple g's to get thru the week and it's been working very well. I might try it with caffeine, but I hate caffeine so maybe something else like adrafinil or synephrine
Well, as far as that last sentence goes, you should look into modafinil, usual brand name Provigil. I know someone who uses it, and I tried it once before work, and it's actually quite interesting, especially if you look into the pharmacology on its wikipedia page or wherever. Here's the first paragraph from its Pharmacodynamics section:
Despite extensive research into the interaction of modafinil with a large number of neurotransmitter systems, its precise mechanism or mechanisms of action remain unclear.[101][102] Modafinil elevates hypothalamic histamine levels,[103] leading some researchers to consider modafinil a "wakefulness promoting agent" rather than a classic amphetamine-like stimulant.[104] Modafinil seems to inhibit the reuptake action of the dopamine transporter, thus leading to an increase in extracellular and thus synaptic concentrations of dopamine.[105]
There's a LOT more after that, talking about orexins (over my head), lots of other shit, effect on dopamine transporters... you'd have to read it yourself because I don't pretend I know what I'm talking about when I don't, but it's kinda like a stimulant without being a stimulant. I even told my friend before he let me try it that one time, that after looking into it, it looks very interesting and useful, but I still can't tell if it's an actual stimulant or not, and he says he's been using it for weeks (at least; I forget what amount of time he said), and he still can't tell either, but it helps and works for sure. Makes you feel just awake and alert.
