My proxy server connection in IE?
« on: November 08, 2014, 05:51:47 am »
ok so I have this problem sometimes where not a single page will load at all and IE comes up with a page called "Cannot connect to the proxy server"  and i have to open my internet options and go to the connections tab and turn off this one option that says "Use a proxy server for your LAN" then all the pages load up normal.

then......

15 seconds later nothing loads up again,   I open the connections tab again and the box is checked back off again indicating that IE or windows automatically turns on this "connect thru proxy" shit again every time a page loads up.

any idea how to fix this?,   switching browsers is NOT an option.   I like IE but this is nuts.

I am running windows 8.1 with whatever version of IE is most current.

Yeah, a quick solution would be to stop using Internet Explorer and switch to a better browser.

is it a work computer? it may be enforced that that option can't be disabled.

if it's set to autoconfigure and doesn't have a proxy path in the textbox, it really shouldn't be giving you issues... some ISPs use an upstream proxy to connect you to websites to better monitor and control their outbound bandwidth usage. I know Telstra's mobile data service did/does.

why can't you change browsers?

If "Use a Proxy server For Your LAN" has a checkmark in it, then there should be an IP address and port listed directly below that. Is that there, or is it blank?

Lol I forgot about this thread.   This is my personal computer and I found out what was wrong.   I had a shit ton of adware working behind the scenes and apparently this adware would keep checking this box off automatically every minute.    adware is removed and the problem is gone.
