And Twitter BARELY has a rep system. Closest thing is favorites but it doesn't matter because what people REALLY want on Twitter are FOLLOWERS obviously. User subscriptions.

You're clearly not suited for this, I'd love to take the website off your hands, as I'm sure any number of people would when blessed with a situation such as yours; a barren forum reinvigorated with a huge userbase from a similar site you'd never been a part of, based off another site you'd never been a part of. Really, it was an opportunity for you to lose, people were optimistic and you did nothing but disappoint them.

 Pretty sure at this point, users would be optimistic for anyone other than you to take the helm and try to pull back hard. Are you offering the site to anyone who'll cover the upkeep fees? Do you think someone wants to sift through a ton of threads, reading every word and looking for the best parts, or do they want "tried and tested" ones brought to their attention first. It's good for new users (assuming there is a distant future where there might be one) to see who's been established vs who's a mud farming scammer or whatever, was necessary in BI and is necessary on bitcointalk.org.
