I'm not sure if you were around on Zoklet, but a major issue a lot of the posters had with staff there was that they were afraid to talk to the public.  It helped to maintain that unhelpful "us vs. them" attitude you see us talking about sometimes, and ultimately ended up harming the community.  Maybe I should share less with you guys, but when I was a regular user this was the sort of thing I appreciated seeing from the staff.
