When I went to school in the '60's, even the teachers had the authority to beat you. I can remember many students getting the leather strap treatment, kneeling in the corner on rice, getting their hair pulled and then being thrown around, getting grabbed by the neck, even punched. Teachers were usually big, too, even the females. When you went to school in the '60's, they owned you every minute you were there and could beat you for no reason at all and you'd have to suck it up and shut the fuck up or you'd just get it again. Parents could legally beat you to a pulp as well, and the fathers often encouraged the teachers to keep you in line while they worked.

The Principal in my school would grab the person by the hair and literally drag them down the hall to his office, where a good beating would commence if you even looked at him wrong. The Gym teacher, who we called "Baboon", because he actually looked like a huge baboon, was really big on beating up unruly students as well, slapping them around at random and making death threats. This was business as usual back in the '60's. Nothing like today. Today, kids are pampered.
