vice was 3 heroin addict welfare bums in montreal who literally invented the term "hipster" (gavin mcginnis is credited for it) and they put out some good, funny shit, mostly under the direction of Gavin Mcginnis (buy the vice guide to sex drugs and rock n roll its so good I stole it) but in 2009 they had a rift and Shane Smith (one of the original heroin 3 now director of marketing) ended up buying out Gavin so they could turn into a worldwide derivative circlejerk that makes them a ton of money but pushes faggotry, redundancy and all kinds of bullshit while having "real" journalist who "look like you and me" but are in fact much stupider and with an abysmal understanding of what journalistic integrity entails, basically a fucking joke.
I can't watch vice news without getting angry at the retardation and the shit they do to appear as a "legitimate" news source. I could really go on about this for 3 years but I'll save you the trouble since this thread is about the excellent article by motherboard
Motherboard is not an offshoot of vice, it's a decent publication that now falls under the vice blanket (like noisey and some other shit) because vice is ran by its former director of marketing. They cover canadian stuff a lot and have interesting stories you wouldn't hear anywhere else sometimes. They're the best thing assoicated with vice although pretty dry, hippish and neckbeardy sometimes but whatever.
Fuck, Vice really makes me angry, I feel like posting videos to dismantle and dissect but I won't because I'm high on painkillers and eating apple pie with cheese and ice cream so there's no reason to be angry
