The problem here is that if we don't do anything to prevent it, all of the forums would be full of irrelevant posts.  So, middle way.  I'll be moving fewer threads, but it is still site policy to lock and NIMF stuff like this: http://www.intosanctuary.com/index.php?topic=3402 (was BLTC).

This way nothing will even need to be moved into HB.  If you have more concerns about specific instances of modding or general whatever feel free to contact me.  In the event I do make a mistake, I'm willing to reverse it.  These aren't "staff vs. mod" scenarios.  We're all working together to create a pleasant and interesting webspace.  Right?

I just said that I am loosening my personal policy on locking and NIMFing posts.  More threads made in SG and other areas will be left where they are and kept open.  What I was saying was that if we did absolutely nothing (no mods!) the forum would likely fill up with spam and all the good posters would eventually leave.

whether that is true or not is irrelevant to me, because I am of the mind that 'post quality' is entirely subjective, and there is no one qualified to 'judge' others' posts without prejudice.  Off topic posting is just about right there on the line for me...while I see that it is necessary to keep threads on topic, who is the judge of whether a post is valuable and relevant enough?  When 'post quality' is policed, you get mods censoring posts to suppress topics they find uncomfortable or disagreeable.

That was also a huge part of it, but just as huge a part of it was the posting of utter attention-whoring garbage in thread after thread, year after year. People would come in and scroll through shit tons of utterly useless and uninteresting crap and even comment frequently about how truly shitty the "content" was. This business of minimizing what the kidiots did to our communities is also truly sad. To witness what they did not just once, but twice, and still sit there and deny the outright poisoning of the content with useless spam on both boards is just the height of ridiculous at this point. People would comment all the time about the terrible quality of the posts on both &Totse and Zoklet, and that's because they were jam packed with 12 year olds just looking for an ICQ-chat-Lite experience to satiate their own dumb asses. It wasn't about knowledge is power, it was about posting the most useless, uninteresting, illegible shit one could imagine.

I don't think anyone here is advocating that we be allowed to spam the whole board with garbage.  I, personally, am just agitating for looser rules regarding SG and HB.  Keep the spam in one of two places, to allow 'shitposters' the illusion of choice, and I bet you half the bitching around here would die down instantly.
