There is a type of poster who does not read the rules, or even does not know what they are, who posts for enjoyment because and because they get something out of it. Then we have rules lawyers, who make it a part-time job to interpret and challenge the expectations a user might have of the site. I've lurked and posted on many forums in the past, but I've never seen a community with so much dead weight. We have a disproportionate number of useless people who add little or nothing to the site in the way of meaningful content, and we have a much better chance at thriving if we protect ourselves from allowing them to shape our policies.
