I'm still of the opinion that
« on: October 12, 2014, 12:51:35 pm »
Lanny and SotB should be mods. They are both active and respected (yea, fuck you) members who could improve this site with their modship. The current mods are cool and all but I never see them around or improve anything. Except euqan but yea...

Lanny mainly for all the techy stuff. He's a nerd, y'know. And SotB so he brings some logic and reasoning to the table.

C'mon man, give this shit some flavor, a soul. Fucking something.

who's the judge of if its funny and or clever? the mods. period.

Lanny has already shown he can't be trusted with any kind of authority. I mean, what mod bans a member who has broken no rules over three thousand times just because that member has an opinion or thought that creates personal butthurt? I mean, if the person was spamming or flooding or posting PI or CP, the sure, ban that person. But reading a person's post and not agreeing with it and whipping out the handy mod control panel to "take care of that person" is simply the height of abuse of authority, not to mention incredibly lame. This is what Lanny did. Regardless of his technical knowledge, Lanny has the mindset that killed both &Totse and Zoklet. He has proven time and again to be a real lousy person to give any authority to. His own "friends" booted him off the staff and even went as far as to ban his lame ass right off the site permanently. And you want this proven loser to have a staff control panel here?? Riiiight.

DaGuru and Slave of the Beast are the best mod material you could ever get for this place, and yet they are looked over. That is an incredibly stupid move and only hurts this place. Here we are discussing known and proven power abusers like Lanny, while members with everything it takes to be a great staff member and more are looked down upon? Makes no sense! But I guess that's par for the course for this dysfunctional and backwards community, so I guess it should come as no big surprise really.

I didn't know Lanny was a power abuser but I'm sure you guys will fight over it in this thread for 15 pages so thank you for your input.

DaGuru and SotB sounds like instant concentration camp atmosphere. I know you hate mindless fun and "lulz" but I know many people enjoy it a lot more than walls of quality content posts.

I know you're still trying to keep that &T spark alive and I think that's a good think but the world has changed a lot since 1989.

Just more lay-down excuses and duck & dives; that's the way I look at it. Things should be strict. That's what made &Totse as good as it was and what drew 10's of thousands of serious contributors. It didn't pander to nonsense and kid games, and that serious approach was what attracted knowledge-seekers and idea-makers. If the kiddies want to play their little PI/CP/spam games, they can go and do that over at a million spam-drops out there. If the 12-year-olds want lulz, they can simply head on over to pokemon.com or sesemestreet.com and there's literally tons of neat little kiddie games they can play there. You can't have it both ways. If you're gonna make a mission statement, then you need to stick to the mission statement... PERIOD. Against all council, Zok thought he could somehow merge the two worlds, but just look how he turned out. You keep denying history and the facts in favor of some impossible world you are trying to create, and that's where you keep going wrong.

Lanny was easily one of the best mods on Zoklet.  Banned the right people, as opposed to simply banning the people.  Would actively listen to the community, and work to their benefit.

What was Slave like as mod, does anyone remember?  From his posts here he seems obsessed with post quality, and that gives me the impression he'd be handing out bans like Halloween candy.  But he definitely didn't make as many waves as Meta did on totse, so he probably deserves the benefit of doubt.

Spectral, if you want people to take you seriously you shouldn't do things like suggest DaGuru be modded.

Who else would make a good mod?  Zanick, jerome, if they were around more.  I actually think constantinople would make a good mod if he had more time to be here and didn't do the big text thing when we arrived lol.

To be brutally honest, you make the worst mod a community could have, so putting any worth whatsoever to your opinion would be like insuring a boat while its sinking. It's retards like you who sunk Zoklet, because you think that known and proven power abusers like Lanny, who's only care is his own personal butthurt level, are somehow the saviors in all of this. You're a backwards failure, and all we have is Zoklet's closure to show for it.

Have you tried to create an alternative website, Spectral? A strict one without kidiots and lulz?

Did it work?

I was lucky back when I was modding Mad Scientists at Totse. Most of the people there behaved themselves.
I'll try anything once, and twice to be sure.
