If this was Zoklet, you would get a thanks.
Exactly. I don't have the balls to forage my own mushrooms, but there are so many edibles out there. And a lot of it tastes really good as well.
There's one in my area called the pheasant's back mushroom or Dryad's Saddle and I'd fuck a hole in a sped for some of these. I usually find them in the summer living off decaying hardwood trees in my area and you can also seed them into new areas.
They're safe to eat and there's nothing else out there to mistake them with.
You eat the flat fleshy part and usually cut out the stem, You can eat the stem as well but it's woody in texture. You can also cut them into strips and dry them out to use them in fry pans with steak to soak up the juices to extend your meal or used in soups.
There is also the puffball.
There is some things to watch out for for these ones but on the most part they're good and grow friggin huge!
There is also the Shaggy mane.
You want to get them while they're young before they look like this.
They're too far gone at this point and not edible, If memory serves me you can't drink alcohol with this one for a day or so after as well.
Morels are good too.
A book I'd highly suggest if ever you really want to get into it is Mushrooms of Ontario and Eastern Canada.
This is one of a few that I own but there's lots of pictures and the likes and I find its a good general knowledge book.
