I remember you. I assumed you had left because you had become successful and too good for the site, had "graduated" and was on the track for a good life.
Eh it was a little bit of this I guess. I got ridiculously busy and realized that I happier without it, which is one reason I had dropped off a little.
Political reasons, I hope it isn't something like that time you campaigned for Obama. I would hope that had woken you up and left you permanently disillusioned. What are you doing now and in what area are you in? I remember you you said you were doing biotech work and moving to SF, high IQs and high pay.
I spent about two years consulting for various candidates across the country in varying capacities and, yeah, it left me incredibly disillusioned. I got an offer to work for an organization that would require some pretty strict personal conduct, and so I dropped off most of my Interwebs activity and focused on work. But yeah, I finally got fed up with the political nonsense and went back to tech start-ups this summer. I might do politics occasionally for people I really like/believe in, but I'm done with the gun-for-hire bullshit. Hell, it's not even the corruption/shady shit that bothered me too much, it was the overall incompetence. Anyway, I'm getting off topic.
I'm currently an adviser to one start-up, the CTO/co-founder of another, CEO/co-founder of a third, and now I'm putting together a business plan for a fourth idea. I'm also doing some freelance development on the side to boost the income, but I think I'm about to phase that out.
I'm still in my old city due to the number of business contacts I have here, but I'm gearing up for some long-term travel. I'm trying to get all the businesses to a place where I can manage them remotely at least 80% of the time. Once I'm at that point, I'm gonna be hopping around the world for a couple of years.
