Hey folks - Crazzyass is back
« on: October 08, 2014, 04:15:25 am »
Hey everyone -

So I did a pretty shitty thing by more or less dropping off of the map on Zoklet after receiving a modship, but my life took an unexpected turn and I was in a position where I needed to avoid any further contact with the site for political reasons. Now I'm done with that shit, and I miss your dumbasses.

Cheers to seeing all the old faces around here.

I remember you. I assumed you had left because you had become successful and too good for the site, had "graduated" and was on the track for a good life.

Political reasons, I hope it isn't something like that time you campaigned for Obama. I would hope that had woken you up and left you permanently disillusioned. What are you doing now and in what area are you in? I remember you you said you were doing biotech work and moving to SF, high IQs and high pay.

Eh it was a little bit of this I guess. I got ridiculously busy and realized that I happier without it, which is one reason I had dropped off a little.

I spent about two years consulting for various candidates across the country in varying capacities and, yeah, it left me incredibly disillusioned. I got an offer to work for an organization that would require some pretty strict personal conduct, and so I dropped off most of my Interwebs activity and focused on work. But yeah, I finally got fed up with the political nonsense and went back to tech start-ups this summer. I might do politics occasionally for people I really like/believe in, but I'm done with the gun-for-hire bullshit. Hell, it's not even the corruption/shady shit that bothered me too much, it was the overall incompetence. Anyway, I'm getting off topic.

I'm currently an adviser to one start-up, the CTO/co-founder of another, CEO/co-founder of a third, and now I'm putting together a business plan for a fourth idea. I'm also doing some freelance development on the side to boost the income, but I think I'm about to phase that out.

I'm still in my old city due to the number of business contacts I have here, but I'm gearing up for some long-term travel. I'm trying to get all the businesses to a place where I can manage them remotely at least 80% of the time. Once I'm at that point, I'm gonna be hopping around the world for a couple of years.

Sh, I don't want to think about it.

But bullshit aside, Obama's biggest problem is that he just refuses to wheel and deal the way that Congress is used to. Normally if you need a bill passed, you promise some funding to people's states and districts. You play golf with the Speaker of the House, drink bourbon with Mitch McConnell, etc, and you work out deals.

Obama just demands an acceptable bill - that everyone does their job, basically - and is appalled when no one listens. It's a combination of arrogance and naiveté that has screwed him.

You live in Nashville? Haha, if your into the music scene down there, you've probably run across a few of my friends that made the move to try and get picked up by a label. Last I heard they were actually getting some attention and doing alright, but there's a lot of competition there. I'll Pm you the band name if your interested.. not trying to endorse them, not even sure I like their music nowadays. Also got another hometown friend who moved there that is currently modeling and been in two CMT music videos.. I have a general hate for country music (a few old country exceptions), but hey.. he's making money and getting noticed in the right ways for his planned direction.

Glad to see you back around Crazzyass.. I remember you from many Zok posts. I.. wasn't that rememorable.. even with about 2k posts.. lol (Vigilante).. Still, glad you found your away to the new stomping ground.

Yeah! Definitely PM me the info. Nashville's music scene has really exploded recently, expanding way past country. East Nashville in general is expanding rapidly economically, culturally, everything; it's amazing to watch unfold.

I definitely remember you under the Vigilante hook, man! It's good to see familiar faces.
