Most likely when they see it in context of all your other track marks they'll realise you're a fucking junky. There may be some doctors that won't recognise it. That doesn't mean you're garuanteed to be reported, even though the chances are significantly higher than if you didn't go to a legit doctor, but there is a definite risk if your medical system is the same in this regard as mine and treats a breach of parole on flagged individuals as a notifiable incidence.

Some docs just won't give a shit as long as you cover their ass with a plausible story that justifies the same treatment and course of antibiotics. Your spider bite idea does do that well.

Do you know if you're going to come up flagged when they go to look at your medical file? Do you want to take these risks? Or would you rather risk the wrong course of antibiotics or no biotics at all for your abscess?

What you really need is to find out the normally prescribed course, and then locate one of the many dumbfucks who have surplus antibiotics lyin around because they cease treatment the second they think that they're feeling better.

Get to a doctor asap.  Privacy laws actually prevent them from speaking to your PO, but if you're that scared you can just tell them you were messing around with a syringe full of water.  They won't believe you, but that's okay.
^This. HIPAA.

If you're worried, go to a different doctor or an urgent care clinic. It doesn't matter what you tell them, and in fact you don't need to tell them anything. If they don't know what they're doing, they'll give you a broad spectrum antibiotic and tell you to come back if it doesn't go away in a few days. If they do know what they're doing, they'll also stick a needle in it, suck out some of whatever's inside, and culture it to know what they're dealing with if the first antibiotic doesn't take care of it.

You do need the right antibiotic, because not all bacteria are equal.

Yep.  HIPAA violations are a huge huge deal.  Could easily cost a doctor their license and worse if they contacted your PO and said anything about it to them.  All healthcare workers know this.  Part of the certification process (at least in my state) for any healthcare position involves being tested on HIPPA and all that omnibus stuff.

Trust us when we say you're fine in this regard.

Thanks for the serious replies, will give it til morning and see if it gets worse. Took some random antibiotic from my friend, have one left for the morning and put ice on it, seemed to help with the swelling.

I'm glad you guys told me the doctor cant get me in trouble with my po. We should get a thread on this going.

When you take antibiotics you really should do the whole course of treatment.  Not a pill or two; that will generally result in an infection never truly being treated by the medication, and you may have to go through ANOTHER entire course of antibiotic treatment to take care of it.  Antibiotics are nothing to fuck with.  If people use them like this they can (and totally do) make their antibiotic use in the future less effective and contribute to the birth of multiresistant "super bugs".

Please, think of the children.  Get to the doctor tomorrow, and be sure to tell them what antibiotic you took and at what dosage.  There's a big chance they won't believe you or just like different antibiotics better and will prescribe something else anyway, but it could help a tiny bit maybe.  This sounds like a case where you really should take antibiotics, but keep in mind for the future that you're really not doing yourself any favors by taking antibiotics unless you absolutely need to.

Necrosis is a thing, and it can happen from accidents such as these.  Probably not usually to the point where they have to amputate, but it is a fucking big deal if you have an abscess after botched IV treatment.

Yea, I'm sure the procedure of treating an heroin abscess and a spider bite will be exactly the same...
Holy shit, RisiR is making gold in this thread.

You need to get and take something prescribed, not the remnants of someones random unfinished course of antibiotics.

Go to doctor - tell them you were injecting drugs and missed ( If it makes you feel better, don't elaborate on what drug - or do like equa suggested and say it was water ).  Also tell them you have attempted to remedy your (suspected)infection at home by experimenting with street antibiotics.

They are not going to call your probation lorde or the police or anyone else thats out to get you.  Lying or withholding facts just makes it less likely you will get proper treatment.

This is my favorite part of the thread.

Hoping the OP is okay and went to the doc by now, but just had some more info I figured I'd post.

This situation reminds me of the first time one of my friends went into convulsions and a seizure when I was at college after he smoked some of fake weed(syncans), while we were all smoking weed, drinking underage, and snorting coke.  Everyone was all scared to call for help because they were more worried about getting in legal trouble then making sure our friend was okay.  I was the one who called it in and before EMT and the police showed up, everyone scattered, I was the only one that stayed to make sure he didn't die before they got there.  While EMT was getting him out of the dorm and into the ambulance, a medic asked me what all he had taken, while everything illegal was still sitting out.  I was scared as shit and didn't want to talk much a first, then a cop came over told me "you're not going to jail, you won't get any tickets, or any charges; we just need to know to treat him properly."   I complied and told them the full situation.  After the ambulance left and only the cop was still there, I came up and thanked him for being cool about everything.  He then informed me that no matter what an officer runs into on a drug overdose call, they can not charge the user or anyone else present with whatever is there.  This is because if anything like my situation ever happens again(which is did, many times), they don't want whoever is calling to not call because of what happened the last time they did.

Basically, if there is a serious health concern from drugs and you need medical attention, you're pretty much granted legal immunity for the call.

Actually, this is not always the case.  The vast majority of the time things will go as they did for you, but in most states the police do reserve the right to enforce the law when they come around.

http://www.drugpolicy.org/911-good-samaritan-fatal-overdose-prevention-law

I've known of many overdoses where police were present in one of the states not in the list found in the link, and the only time the cops did something was when they knew the person present for the overdose had sold the drugs to the victim of overdose.

Medical professionals can't inform the police of anything unless the person poses an immediate risk to themselves or another, but the police are something else entirely.  It's a shame, but in these cases the written law is not on your side.

Web filter here at work won't let me open the link and I don't feel like booting up tor, but we were in TX.  Maybe we're one of the cooler states(doubt it though).

I never looked into the written laws on it, but just assumed that's how they did things in my area.  I'm sure if someone overdoses and EMT and the cops show up and find like 10 kilos of heroin then someones gonna get in trouble, but for personal shit, I wouldn't expect much trouble.
