when does a missed shot become an abcess?
« on: September 29, 2014, 07:31:47 pm »
I missed a shot in my wrist last night, its now 4:30pm and the spot is very sore, red, and swollen to about the size of a 50 cent piece. How do i know when its for sure an abscess?

Noob, heroin isn't the only drug that has intravenous route of administration as a viable option. Anyway, OP, was it tar? How clean was your dope?

Quit posting on a forum and go to the doctor, YOU WILL NOT GET IN ANY LEGAL TROUBLE, the doctors are concerned about your safety, not your decisions.

The doc will most likely just give you some antibiotics if you get there soon though, the longer you wait the worse it will get.  Soak in warm water a few times a day will help a little bit, but will not fix the problem.  If you even think its an abscess, get it looked at ASAP rather than ignore it and lose an arm.

If you're going with the spider bite, then note that if it's presented as just any spider bite, they may swab it, and that only a few spiders have fangs sizeable and powerful enough to create such a puncture.

Your friend has a pet tarantula. It doesn't/can't envenomate. You were sitting on his couch smoking pot together when you slowly became aware of an itching feeling on your arm, saw the tarantula and swatted it. This explains how a normally docile tarantula bit you. Don't elaborate any further than this.

You'd also want to create another puncture wound beside it. Dont forget that the distance between fangs widens as a spider goes for a strike.

Yea, I'm sure the procedure of treating an heroin abscess and a spider bite will be exactly the same...

If you say it's just any spider bite, they may swab it. Remove the doubt, and give a simple and reasonable explanation.

Claim that your friend's pet tarantula bit you.  They have fangs of suitable size and power to create a similar wound.

Tarantulas are docile. You would be best including (when prompted) that this after it crawled onto your hand from the couch and you flipped out and hit it. Don't elaborate any further than this.

You'd also want to create another puncture wound beside it. Dont forget that the distance between fangs widens as a spider goes for a strike.

Im thinking when they see It either way theyll decided it needs to be cut open and drained, or just put me on antibiotics. My main thing is i'm worried that the hospital will contact my probation officer. That would not be good.

Get to a doctor asap.  Privacy laws actually prevent them from speaking to your PO, but if you're that scared you can just tell them you were messing around with a syringe full of water.  They won't believe you, but that's okay.
