Interesting thread, but that's not really how it works.

This.

Mods are chosen dictatorially (for the most part) by me. Any of the staff can nominate someone and if I see a suitable candidate to be part of the staff I will discuss it with my staff, but it is me who gets the final say.

Lanny was an integral part of not just one, but TWO staff failures, which directly resulted in the closure of TWO communities, and now you want to give him the chance to sink a third community?? Give it a rest.

Guys, this isn't like Zoklet where if someone gets promoted, they get that position for a very long time. If someone keeps abusing their power or are not following the rules, they are demoted rather quickly. Simple as that.

Make no mistake. Who gets picked as staff here is treated INCREDIBLY seriously. If the admins pick someone to be staff (all global moderators, and admins must be approved by the existing admin or admins), it will be because they have excelled completely. The people we pick must be model posters. We will only accept the best and will expect a lot out of them no matter who they are. They will be held to a very high standard but, as a result, they will BE the standard and will also hold a very high level of respect from me and the other admins. They are the keepers of the Sanctuary.

I have over 2000 posts. I should get something.

That's good to hear.  Bothered me at Zoklet that mods were appointed for life like Supreme Court Justices even when the users had big big problems with them and they were generally not great at the job haha.
