Why? Well, because the "modern" BBS is full of childish, under-aged morons who are so clueless that they think a BBS is really about Being A Mod, Being a Somebody, attention-whoring, playing with a mod control panel, having some sort of power over others and other assorted lame insecurities. Knowledge is power and community spirit is like foreign concepts to these. They figure that as soon as they join a BBS, the critical role they have to play is trying to get modded. Thats why we used to have a saying on the original &Totse that if someone publicly expressed a desire to be a mod, they would be automatically excluded from the possibility. This was wayyy before the kidiots and their enablers got in and took over everything.
