Are any Tom Waits fans here? I truly love Tom Waits. Every song of him is better than most other shit so I'll just post random videos here.

If you're a Tom Waits fan, please come in. :)

Ted nugent is more my style.  I do like 'hang on st christopher', even though I hate the 'ragtime' flavor of it.  I fucking hate that kind of sound.

Hard Rock is the shit, too. Keep it Waits in this bitch, though.

Probably Godot...

The more important question, though is, what's he building in there?

I've really liked individual tracks from waits but I'm kinda embarrassed to say I've never listened to a waits release all the way though. In some ways I feel like I love the idea of waits more than I enjoy his actual work. I love his style, I love his attitude, I even love his raspy fucking delivery but when it comes right down to it, 45 minutes of waits is too much. I appreciate his work and I'm glad he's managed to be successful but he's never going to make it into my top played artists for the fact that he can't write a hook for shit.

I'm ambivalent about Tom Waits,  more of a Nick Cave fan.

I should probably give him a second look though. Suggestions?
Start with Closing Time and then jump to Mule Variations to get a good picture. Then when you're addicted check out the rest.

Dude, you have to listen to Closing Time all the way through. It's 45m38s.

I can just facepalm about what you said about his hooks. "I hope that I don't fall in love with you" basically is the hook of "I hope that I don't fall in love with you" and it's perfect. It's also the best love song ever written so that's that. Listen to "Grapefruit Moon" and tell me that's not a great hook.
