So how much are people lifting?
« on: September 16, 2014, 11:51:22 am »
Thought I may as well get a few topics started to get things going again.

How much can anyone squat, bench and deadlift?

Im UK so work in Kg's but currently have a 1RM of

110Kg bench
180Kg deadlift
150Kg squat

Id be interested to see if anyone can better these....im still pretty weak but making good progress at 84Kg bodyweight.

shows how many people on this site are into physical fitness

i dont do any of that stuff.  my chest routine involves dumbells and my leg workout involves running and endurance type exercises.

The heaviest thing I ever deadlifted was my sister's car. A Dacia Sandero Duster.

I don't do bench presses and nowadays I only do bodyweight stuff but back in the day, vertical leg pressin 300kg ten times was no problem.

I was build for this shit, though. A true strongman... at heart. I rather internets all day.  :jerkoff:

I hate lifting. I climb, swim, run and bike these days, which really is all I need. I don't have a demanding physical job (being fit helps with the long hours, though), and the aesthetics of a bigger body are completely lost on me.

Thanks for that input on a lifting thread.

If youre masturbating that would make sense but its the way members of the opposite sex view your aesthetics that should be the relevant factor

If you're not blessed in the brain department, yes, I understand lifting is a necessity, you wouldn't be able to attract attention to otherwise. You're also more than likely not aiming for the top sports of the social ladder, which is likely with good reason.

You are aware that there are more reasons to lift weights other than mass and appearance?

I used to lift in a very similar range to the OP but found that there were limited functional benefits to the type of strength gained. I was surprised at the time but it's not exactly rocket science; if you lift a lot of heavy static weights then... lifting heavy static weight is what you'll get good at.

Transferring my gym-strength to 'real-life' dynamic loads often resulted in disapppointment.

Probably, though doing things other than lifting are just as good for you, if not better.

To me, lifters are like vegetarians or Jehova's witnesses. You don't give a flying fuck about their beliefs, yet they shove it down your face every chance they get. I get it, lifting is fucking awesome, I cry hot tears of sorrow over all those useful hours I could have spent doing preacher curls instead of fighting gravity on slippery rocks outside. I know, running and climbing and cycling and swimming all fucking suck because they don't give you the gains lifting does, but not everybody in this world is an insecure piece of misery trying to fit in.

Brains dont get you quality pussy...or in quantity

There are no top sports in the social ladder.  Unless you consider painting the ceiling a good time
