Yeah, all I can do is echo what everyone else already said. You got caught, not big deal - but your mistake was not only returning to the store period - but returning in such a short time span and then shoplifting again.
Also, getting caught shoplifting in the first... and second place, and then instead of escaping, lingering and taunting the LP by incorrectly informing them that they cannot legally detain him. Essentially, the OPs story is a list of things that you should never do while shoplifting. He should take a long break from stealing shit (that he most likely does not even need) and either find a better way to get money or learn how to shoplift properly.
Just learning what not to do is not enough. You must also learn how to do it properly. I pretty much guarantee they marked him the second he went in the door, and then observed him stealing shit. Even if he tries it at another place far from his town they will probably peg him again right away. I'd bet he looks sketchy as fuck (in mannerisms at the least) while also being the prime demographic who is likely to shoplift. He should stick to places with no or very shitty LP. In fact, he should scrap shoplifting all together and if anything get into bar coding.
I mean, he could still shoplift successfully, but half the time I'd bet it ends with LP chasing him through the parking lot. That isn't worth it. Might as well just do smash and grabs at that point.
