Glad to finally see you back Slave, been waiting to see this thread bumped ever since we heard from you last time.
Did they tell you how invasive the procedure would be, if they do have to go with exploratory surgery? Speaking from experience, getting cut at the core can be a pretty nasty recovery period...obviously depending on how bad the surgery really is. A few years ago I had a foot of my colon removed because my diverticulitis was so bad, and I wasn't back to my old self fully mobile like normal until somewhere around 4-6 months later. I think it took me almost a month just to lift a gallon of milk without discomfort, it really is amazing the muscles you use in your abdomen even for the most mundane shit.
If they do recommend surgery, better ask the doc how laid up you'll be and how long it will effect your work and home life. It ain't fun in the least.
