With the gnutella P2P out of the picture, I haven't tried too many places. Mp3skull.com has worked for me in the past, but I think they're buttoning up a little more now.

I don't bother to download shit unless it's not on spotify, in that case I'll either use youtube to mp3 or TPB.

I have like this image of one of those portable cassette players glued to the back of some shitty disposable cellphone.

again, for anyone looking for FLACs or more obscure music, try rutracker.org. you have to sign up to their BBS, just use google translate, but it has the best selection of any site I've seen (and I have been a member of a large number of private trackers).

rutracker is good, I'm always surprised that an open tracker can manage so much FLAC. I never find myself using it anymore after getting a what.cd account.

I dunno, I never got into what.cd but I found rutracker to be a lot more diverse than OINK ever was

What does everyone use to download music? Don't pretend like you don't. This is 2014. I'll never have enough money to pay for all the music I like.

I like to use NNTP, but i'll use IRC or BBS as well. I like deep progressive, so I normally have to go to the maker or rip it myself. But, I have used TPB for full albums of other genres.

I always download via torrent, I just downloaded Soulseek and it is great! And as OP said, I have found music I couldn't find anywhere else!

The best site to use for free music is a youtube to mp3 converter. Just find the song you want on youtube, copy the url, paste into website and it will download it for you. This does take all the audio on the video so if there are any beginning pauses you will want to find a different upload of the song. Just search "youtube to mp3 converter" online.
I grew up a fuckin' screw-up, got introduced to the game, got a ounce and fuckin' blew up
