Title: What to do if I think I am being investigated by CSIS?
Post by: WAN on October 06, 2014, 09:36:30 pm
Hello.  I am a person who lives in Canada, and the CSIS is the intelligence agency of our country that is like the equivalent of the FBI.

I think I am being investigated by them.  Is there any recourse for me?  Can I like, order a copy of my file from them?

What should I do?  Please help.  Thanks.

I have just sent an email to Access to Information and Privacy (ATIP) Office, requesting a copy of my file with the CSIS.

If I suddenly stop posting, you know that the CSIS killed me.

why did they detain you?

Also, don't they respond to people's requests for their files with their agency?  you mean they lie and tell you that you don't have any files with them when in fact you do?

Whether they are following you or investigating you or not is a whole other can of worms. For the sake of this conversation, let's assume that they are indeed keeping tabs on you.

Why? What do you think their reasoning/justification is for investigating you and you in particular?

I do know why.  However, I believe that they shouldn't have done the things they did to me, despite what I had done, which was, strictly speaking, not illegal.

It's nice to see you again, but you really should try to think long and hard about why they would be investigating you. If you truly can't think of a single reason as to why they would choose to do something like that, then chances are they aren't and you're unfortunately experiencing what everyone here already said : paranoid delusions.

So please, for your own vindication, try to think of a reason or reasons why a government agency would choose to spend it's time researching and investigating you.

I'm sorry, I have a tendency to gloss things over sometimes when I'm reading. ESL and whatnot. I accidentally read what you said as "I don't know why".

Now, I must ask you "Why?" then. You don't have to go into too much detail, just the general idea of what they think you are/have done.

I truly wouldn't worry about that. I have been involved in a literal, face to face government investigation for almost two solid years now. Believe me when I say that no organization is going to waste time, resources and money on toying with people. Least of all over hate speech that doesn't maintain any sort of legal ambiguity.  They do not toy with people or play games. There is a reason why most governmental agencies maintain such a high conviction rate, it is because they aren't going to bother with you unless they are almost CERTAIN they can "get" you. Otherwise, it is a waste of time and money.

Remember that money is what keeps the government afloat. They investigate and arrest people for money and revenue. Fines, court costs, jail time - that all helps oil the machine. Unless you have done something and/or are continue to do things of an illegal nature, the government is not going to waste their time with you. They will only do so if they genuinely believe they can get one of the three above mentioned staples out of you (fines, court costs, jail time).

also, (i am re-iterating here) i take extreme issues with what the CSIS did to me in response to my online posts.  I believe the CSIS is a cruel, evil agency.

They will only do so if they genuinely believe they can get one of the three above mentioned staples out of you (fines, court costs, jail time).

i know what happened to me.  I know what the feds did.  sorry proots i know you meant well and are trying to help, but i am resolved.  i will take my case as far as it will go.  the CSIS is evil, and they did cruel things to me.

so tell me lanny, why did you keep alluding to my mental patient status?

Because when a mental health patient suspects that they're the subject of an ongoing investigation by a secret government agency then there's one explanation that's a lot more probable than all the others.

but this doesn't explain why you keep alluding to it in some sort of attempt to humiliate/embarrass me, though

indeed you havent talked to me in months (how does being demodded and banned from zoklet feel?) but every time we have some sort of encounter, invariably you bring up or allude to my mental patient status, in some sort of attempt to humiliate me, probably out of some sort of desire to get back at me for pwning your ass in that liberal thread from a long time ago (btw, tell me, how does having a sore butt feel?)
Title: Re: What to do if I think I am being investigated by CSIS?

I don't have any particular desire to humiliate you, but it's certainly relevant in this thread. You clearly remember our encounters better than I do, give me an example and I'll tell you why I brought up your mental illness (as I have done in this thread). I don't really think mental illness is something you have to be embarrassed about in and of itself, although it does cast doubts on the veracity of your claims from experience.

As to your question about what it feels like to be banned from zoklet, it was nice. I was very productive in the months following. I had started working on a cool software project around that time and found I had a lot more time and energy to devote to it. I'm hoping to get an alpha of it running a few weeks.

that is good to hear, lanny.  please note that i am not bothered by your mentioning of my mental patient status.  it was slightly annoying at best.  i got bigger fish to fry (not saying that you are unimportant).  namely the CSIS.  i want them to pay for what they did to me.

now thanks for listening to my raving

Csis is more like the CIA they do national security spying and such and intelligence gathering. If you're living in Canada they won't investigate you, the RCMP will. You are full of crap. They don't have any files on you.
Continue working at your 7-11 store or whatever place you work for a living

Nope
They can't arrest you they just do intelligence gathering.  They might work in cooperation with the military and local and federal police agencies namely the RCMP.
The RCMP will conduct actual investigations on its citizens, they can arrest and prosecute you not CSIS.

then maybe i will also obtain a copy of my file from the rcmp, too.  after csis.  i still think csis is more probable due to the number of people i encountered and the nature of the things they did to me

more like the American CIA,    CSIS has agents that collect information and use it in collaboration with RCMP,  local police and government for plans and operations.

they are currently looking for people that speak Russian,  farsi,  Arabic,   Chinese and polish.

They do have the authority to preform an arrest if life/lives are in danger or the threat is of a pressing nature but they mostly stay undercover and collect information.
if they have information on you (Say you have ties with terrorists or are a bomb maker) then they will assign a team to watch you round the clock and gather information,   then after they have enough information to bust you they will have the RCMP make the arrest.       watch for strange people and cars,   they are real secret agents and they will document everything you say and do.

so if the CSIS is the canadian equivalent of the CIA, what's the canadian equivalent of FBI, then?

I had to learn everything possible about CSIS because I wanted to BE CSIS.      the Canadian equivalent of the FBI is the RCMP,   before 1981 the RCMP was the do-all end-all intelligence/police force.     after CSIS was formed in 1984 the RCMP became the national and Canadian international police force.
