Carhopping
Carhopping is one of the simplest and most entertaining way of making some quick cash. It basically involves walking along streets at night and checking cars to see if they are unlocked, then taking valuables. repeat until satisfied.
Gear
Clothing
I would recommend going for a social-stealth approach, as this requires alot of walking in exposed areas. Wear clothing which either makes you look like you are walking back after a night at the bar, or going for a late night/early morning run. a baseball cap is always a good idea just to lessen the chance of a camera catching your face or someone recognizing you.
Flashlight
BRING ONE! this is crucial. When you open a car up a flashlight will greatly increase the speed that you can loot it in, without you fumbling for the lights.
Gloves
stops you from leaving your prints and keeps you warm.
Bag
A backpack works well, although it screams suspicion. handheld shopping bags are a good alternative, preferably the eco friendly reusable ones.
Tube sock
For storing change.
technique
Walk up to a cars PASSENGER SIDE. vehicles on the street are safer yet they are more frequently locked. driveways are your best bet. test the lock by having your spare hand pushing against the door and your other one pulling the handle gently, this prevents a loud opening noise should the car be unlocked.
Hop into the passenger seat. either kneel or sit in it and check these following areas.
1. Center console/cup holder - you will find change, phones, and wallets in this area.
2. Sunglasses holder -sunglasses can be resold for a nice profit.
3. Glove box - you rarely find anything of value in here but there may be something good, worth a check, and this is why you hop in the passenger side.
4.Have a quick look at the backseat, you may find laptops, ipads, sports equipment etc. in here.
5.grab the GPS if there is one.
Optional
1.Boot - there may be golf clubs or other similar items here.
2. Search common spots where people stash weed if you get the feeling that the owner of the car may indulge.
leave the vehicle quietly, and move onto the next one. Simple!
sell the loot online or to friends after a few weeks.
Warnings
-Smokers are your enemy. check porches to make sure no one is out having a late night smoke.
-Hide from every car, better safe then sorry.
-Turn of items which trace your movement such as GPSs as soon as you find a safe spot to do so.
