I really don't think the thanks system adds much. If anything it tends to promote shit posting and a hive mentality, people posting just to get thanks and shit. We didn't have that on totse and to know that you were getting "social rep" you actually had to talk to people and establish a relationship outside of an e-high-five.

I know you and panny both agree with the no thanks or rep system.

But "putting in effort" and "establishing relationships" on BBS's that are quickly becoming outdated, we need a quick "high five" "Homie Handshake" "Daps", and we need even more than just that.

"Sometimes posting just to get thanks" - Well nigga, sometimes that post is 5 star quality, and effort put into it for said thanks/rep.

EDIT: Therefore, more harm than good I think. I think shitposting is going to be a problem regardless. And even though it was a joke, seeing those +1's for post count brought me back to 13 years or however long ago I was lurking totse.   

I just feel like a subtle die-out is inevitable, hate to be negative nancy here, but if we WERE to survive a 3rd migration with any sort of possibility for not just surviving, but thriving, we need to brainstorm about the same problems that faced zoklet. AND I KNOW

I know its jumping the gun a little too, considering this just happened yesterday, but it feels like a real time crunch to get what people who want stay with the community they know in some kind of system and board layout we all agree on.

Elsewise this is the end, or we have a totse2/totse.info situation. With zoklet2, Zokleteer.net, etc with members taking another divide, cutting already "cutted" community in half, until we have a couple forums of hardly nothing.

Maybe its just the shock of it, but I already don't feel like contributing, and I'll stick around just to lurk or stay in contact with you niggas, but I dunno.

It was a pretty hilarious rap - but, I also agree with Rizzo, here. The "thanks" system does nothing but promote hive mentality and when people start posting something just to get a "thanks", the overall quality and content of the posts themselves starts to decline.

That's what I'm saying. It's not like any of us are posting gold nuggets of wisdom to begin with. All the "thanks" system did was dilute our already terrible posts ever more. This is just my opinion on that particular system, though. I'm not trying to like, argue a case or anything like that.
