Friend's phone got stolen, how do I get it back?!

I thought at first about posting this in Bad Ideas, but that didn't seem to quite fit because well, this isn't a bad idea, a bad idea happened to someone. My friend's phone got stolen at a party by my gf's brother. He confessed to doing so to my other friend, but he still hasn't given it back... Is there a way to get it back in the most peaceful way possible? I don't know what to do... The friend who got their phone stolen is my ex gf, and I do not want to show that I care too much about this issue... but she's a good person (just not the person for me) she's going through a lot of shit right now, she just found out her mom has cancer. I don't think the police can do anything about this theft, and I'd rather not go to the police at all about this issue.

The can. But they won't. If you want to get the law involved, best shot is small claims court to recover the value of the phone. Even the threat of it might get him to turn it over, or he might destroy the evidence. Judgement call.

Easy fix...get your GF to send you nudes. Then tell the Neanderthal brother that you will upload them to the "the internet" if you don't get the phone back. That might get you the phone or an ass beating while getting your own phone stolen as well, depending on if you can take this guy out.

Go get your gf and go to the brother and get the damn phone back. Shouldn't really be that hard.
