They did not.

Not that I doubt your story, but at least here if you get injured they usually release you if medical attention is required because they have to pay your medical bill as long as you are still in custody, I've actually seen this happen.
Not that you're going to get out of a murder or rape charge, but something like DUI/non support/vandalism, basically something silly and misdemeanor they let you go.

when i worked as a nursing aid in the st hospital there was a guy that was taken outta jail and sent the mental hospital because he slit his wrist, but im sure that wouldn't work in prison. wonder how it even worked while he was in jail.

I used to carpool to the methadone clinic sometimes with this guy who got caught shoplifting, and he had MRSA on his arm, and they refused to arrest him and just let him go.
