Old SnB filters

If someone had a bunch of old filters or cotton balls left over, would it be feasible to try to soak them in some fuel and drop meff out into water with acid?

I have to say I'm kind of retarded sometimes. I did a little thinking and there is no reason that it wouldn't work :/
