Ok, I apologize, bazl. I was wrong. It seems the mail server is simply being selective as to where it will send an AUTH code. It won't send to Gmail or any of the more popular public e-mail service providers. I'll try the one you mentioned.

No, it didn't say it wouldn't send to Gmail and appeared as if it did, but it didn't. Nothing in the spam folder either. Tried again after 24hrs.. still no AUTH code at Gmail. But I did try 10 Minute Mail and it worked and I received the AUTH code no problem. Again.. apologies. I'm quick to fly right off the handle if I feel Totse members are being deliberately deprived of any part of their legacy. I'll delete that post I made now.

Cutting through all the techy mumbo jumbo geek speak, the fact is you ARE making people "register their usernames". (Read=whitelisting the rooms for APPROVED users). So all you've done here is proven my original statement to be true, hiding under the guise of all that SPAM. Oh the humanity!

+R is not equivalent to a whitelist for approved users. That is what zb3 did when its controls were activated. +R means only users that are registered on SlashNET can join. I don't know why you don't want to register with a fake email address, but it is your own bizarre problem.

In addition to a few others, the same people who did the d0xxing were spamming the channel. If there's anyone in there you trust, ask them. It was frequent and annoying, and most people on IRC are already registered anyway. It's just you who's complaining. Even the few people who didn't feel like registering but still actually frequented the channel haven't complained, because they are also sick of the spam. Basically, deal with it. Your 'message' will remain where you put it. Dick.

To register an unregistered nick to access #totse

1. Go to http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html . You will shown a temporary e-mail address to use for 10 minutes in the box presented there.

2. Instead of connecting directly to #totse, connect to irc://irc.slashnet.org (using your unregistered nick). Don't connect to any rooms for now.

3. At the entry field, type:

/msg NickServ REGISTER password email

^ where password is the password you want to protect and register your nick with, and email is the e-mail address 10 Minute Mail gave you.

4. After pressing enter, a message should appear alerting you that a 9-digit AUTH Code has been sent to the 10 Minute Mail account

5. Copy your AUTH code from the 10 Minute Mail window when it arrives and go back to the SlashNET entry field and type:

/msg NickServ AUTH 123456789

^ where 123456789 is the AUTH Code you received

You should now be alerted by SlashNET that your nick has now been AUTH'd and protected

6. Type:

/join #totse

You should now be in #totse using your registered nick

If you're using Mibbit to connect:

1. After getting a temp e-mail address from http://10minutemail.com/10MinuteMail/index.html , go to http://chat.mibbit.com

2. In the "Connect" dropdown menu, select SlashNET (webirc), then enter your desired nickname in the Nick field, but DON'T specify a Channel yet. Press the CONNECT button. You should now be at the main SlashNet window.

I'm not complaining about it. I made a simple comment above, and you've spent considerable time and text to prove me wrong, yet have failed miserably. Yes, that channel is basically "closed" and no matter how desperately you want to dissect semantics and minute details its basically a circle-jerk whitelist for people you approve of.

No matter how much techy geek speak you want to throw at me, that IS a summary of what has happened. That isn't me complaining, because I've spent very few hours in IRC all the years I've been posting on Totse and other forums, and I really don't give a fuck. Instead just calling a spade a spade as usual.
