Totally agree... except for the thread derailing. Often, posts which appear totally off-topic will actually add to the thread discussion. As long as the off-topic posts are not kidiot nonsense and are posted in an adult manner, they can actually grow interest in the original topic, or develop the thread into even more interesting sub topics. The point of the place is discussion. Trying to herd and control and focus discussion stifles it. The corrupt ex-staff of Totse and Zoklet used this rule all the time to shut up opinions they didn't agree with or which made them personally butthurt.
