Most of us here are probably aware that the golden age of the internet ended almost a decade ago, and we've been living among the last dying embers for some time. It peaked in 2003-05 and has been declining at a staggering rate since ~2008.
Zoklet was, at least for a while, the final clearnet sanctuary for what one might call the TOTSE generation. With it gone, the spark is fully extinguished. We lost the battle against suppression of free and open speech, centralization, commercialization and corporate dominance, and mass infiltration of stupidity. The modern internet is a mess of ad networks and social media pages devoid of content. Everything is tracked, monitored, recorded. Intelligent former web users have gone into hiding out of justified fear and paranoia. There are no more webspaces one can access and have a true no-holds-barred discussion about a controversial subject. The threat of being raided/arrested for participating in such things is for the first time very real.
How did we let this happen? How did we let them strip away our freedoms without so much as batting an eye? TOTSE was an empire, we had a collective vision and purpose that many still identify with today, we had an army (of mostly skiddies, but yeah), it was home to some of the most intelligent, insightful and enlightened people I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with, and yet we couldn't so much as survive into the second decade of the 21st century.
I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do. All social media is shit. Forums are heavily censored and really only useful for troubleshooting technical problems. People don't trust Tor as much these days due to the massive presence of LE and scammers, so hidden services are generally unreliable and inactive. We tried a TOTSE onion site long ago and it failed to catch on.
Maybe I'll create my own site and do some brute force advertising to generate interest. You faggots will need to learn how to use Tor though, because it will have no rules whatsoever and I'm not hosting that shit on the open web. I'll have some time to dedicate to this in the new year.
