Fuck the bank's money, and fuck my money for that matter....its goes beyond any financial loss. Once you rub elbows with a guy waving a weapon around (or in this case just pretending to have a weapon) with a hostile intent, you are now dealing with a very clear and present danger with just about anything likely to happen. For all you know he might be tweaked out and any sudden noise might scare him into popping rounds into god knows what for no reason at all.

So in my mind...take whatever prudent means necessary to subdue/incapacitate/possibly kill the fucker. The minute he followed through on the idea to potentially harm innocent people for his selfish gains invited karma and anyone that is capable to take the guy down with with extreme prejudice.

I worked at a bank for 4 years. It would be the easiest place to rob because we were told to do exactly as they said - nothing more, nothing less. We had drawer limits though, so it wouldn't be a boatload (though a lot more than some convenience store or something). We didn't have an armored panic room or anything, but we were trained on how to react and how to look for identifying features, plus good security cameras.

Yep. Drawer limits vary from bank to bank. At one bank I worked at I almost always had less than $1000 in my drawer. Most of the money was in a cash dispenser machine that took 2 people with access codes and about 20 minutes (built in locked timer) to get into.

Robbing banks is fucking stupid though because while the employees will simply hand over the money, there are ALWAYS security cameras. There are also lots of security features, from marked bills, dye packs, gps trackers, and more. That's shit you won't run into at a gas station.

I also worked at a liquor store before. Hardly any money in the drawer. Cameras all over. Tons of customers as witnesses. Not a good place to rob.

Man I wanted to rob this Wendy's I worked at before soo bad.  It's like 2010 and they didn't have a single camera ANYWHERE.. not even in the managers office with the safe.  How easily I could have had a buddy come to the store n "stick me up" n make away with ~500$ (the managers were also lazy and didn't drop any money until close which is not standard policy).

Would've been easy money.  Only reason I didn't was because I live in a very small, very rich town so we have ALOT of cops who have literally nothing to do n my store was on the busiest street in town.  One time tho I did take a hundred out of the office.  My boss was about to do a drop in the safe, so he had a big wad of cash in an envelope when a customer came to complain.  He left the money in the office, with the door open, and spent 20 minutes dealing with the unruly customer.  Everyone else was busy.. so I snuck in and grabbed some cash.

He ended up saying on the headset "whoever took the fucking cash better put it back thats ur only warning".  I didn't, and nothing ever happened :) he ended up being transfered because of it.

I transported $40 grand in cash by myself across town between branches once in my car, and $20 grand a couple other times. It was pretty legit.

You must've worked at a sketch ass bank. The ones I worked at either had Garda or Brinks security transport everything.

Nah, it was a good bank. It's a local bank with 9 branches (well, 8 now), but they're good. I still use them today.

We would use Loomis or whatever company it would be to buy and sell money, but occasionally a branch would run out of a denomination and would need to buy from another branch. They usually didn't trust tellers to do that, but hey, it was me. Funny thing is they discovered that I was really only authorized to carry $20k, so they couldn't do any more $40k stuff.

They had pretty much as much of my personal information as they could get, so it's not like I'd take off with it. I just hoped the count came out correctly when I got there.

At the branch I spent the most time at, I think the vault limit was $150k or so, and then we'd have to sell to the fed. Drawer limits were $7,500 or else you couldn't roll over at the end of the day, though they didn't really like us to keep that much out if we didn't need it. It was a pretty cool job getting through college. I almost chose banking as a full time gig, but then I jumped over to corporate America.

I knew two people years ago that robbed a bank they didnt get much money but the best part is how they got caught - the one guy was wearing his daughters hat and it had her full name on it in a sharpie.

The FBI cruised into town and made examples out of both of them

Around here, the bank tellers have to use electronic cards and withdraw from a teller machine just like anybody else. While you're waiting for the withdrawal, which could be awhile, customers would probably start attacking you.

Hehe, I like that guy in the video. You can tell he isnt overly macho, maybe a tad bit humble.. sure, he's soaking it in, but given if most of us ere in that situation.. even though we would like to intervene, the shock of the moment is what would cause the most hesitation. I would like to think I would attempt to thwart a robbery like that, but.. I dont keep any of my money in banks so...

No. Because I'm not an idiot.

Only a really stupid person would try and stop a bank robbery. Its a terrible decision. That is why bank personnel are told not to try and stop it. It only ends up creating more problems. Let the police deal with it. In the video in the OP, the robber didn't even have a weapon. If he had pulled out a glock and shot the place up, killing 3 innocent bystanders and the guy who tried to stop him, it probably wouldn't seem like such a good idea then. In fact, it would cost more to clean up that fucking mess (and I literally just mean cleaning up the blood and bodies) than the bank robber would have gotten away in the first place.

Robbing a bank is a very desperate act, especially nowadays when the chance of getting caught is incredibly high and the amount of money stolen is pathetic. Only a truly desperate and violent idiot would rob a bank in the first place, I don't intend to die or cause the deaths of other people in the bank to prevent the branch official from having to file an insurance claim. There is actually this thing that your taxes pay for, called the robbery unit at your police department. Leave it to them.

Of course, most of the people in this thread are just deluding themselves. If you ever end up in the presence of an armed bank robber you will do exactly as he says and piss your pants, not try to tackle him. Unless of course you are truly stupid.

My bank has a fucking metal detector and security doors. I don't know what is up with that, since I set the damn thing off every time and they wave me in anyway.

About the only thing I'd do during a bank robbery is try to keep other people calm. Like hell am I going to stick my neck out unless it looks like someone's about to get fucked up.
I'll try anything once, and twice to be sure.

Probably a good way of handling things, but if I could be absolutely sure that playing the big damn hero wouldn't get me or anyone else hurt... I'd do it in a heartbeat.
