slap a '50 wet shot on it.
« on: October 28, 2014, 06:35:10 pm »
NOS, ZEX, and knock-off ebay brands all make wet 50 shots for use on snowmobiles and motorcycles, usually using a 3lb tank, but the same fittings will fit a 10lb tank.

people will pay WAY MORE than the parts for "A MOTHERFUCKING NOS SWITCH"

thanks to Need for Speed, and videogames, ricers only want to go fast, and don't give 2 fucks about actually working on their shit.

I got $500 to put a 50 wet shot on a honda del sol, I just teed into the existing hi pressure fuel line before the regulator, installed the solenoids under the dash, and wrapped the braided line in vacuum line to disguise it under the hood. (nitrous systems are illegal on the street in pennsylvania)

I had a 3lb bottle left over, and I hid that where the spare tire used to be. I wired the switch to an existing switch on the shifter, and an interrupter off of the downshift switch (car used to be an automatic)

I made sure to have him sign a waver that if he fucked his shit up, I wasn't responsible.

I used a wet shot because I doubt his stock fuelling system could keep up with even a 50 dry shot.

I told him to tell all his ricer friends to come see me for all their nitrous needs.

it took me about 45 minutes to make about $300 after parts. I gave him a full bottle because I know this dipshit doesn't have the means to go get it filled by himself. discuss.

Not really a fan of nitrous myself. Sure it's useful but I'm personally not really into drag racing, so switchable power boosters like those aren't really my bag. But I do rather like water-meth injection, I've got a buddy with a mk.2 turbo diesel Jetta who nigger-rigged a ghetto system in, it worked pretty good. As I understand it, WMI cools the combustion which in turn makes for a more complete burn? I forget now and didn't bother to google it. But anyway, supposedly it's effective for N/A and forced induction cars alike.

water-meth cools the intake charge, the methanol burns, effectively raising the octane of the gas (you can run more timing) and the water displaces some of the explosion, raising the compression ratio.

it kinda]/I] works on N/A motors, but it works best on turbo applications.

I like the concept of nitrous, 45 minutes of work and you get an extra 175hp, no loss in streetability...

I'd rather take that $175 and get an intercooler.

i used to have nitrous on an old V8 that gave me a headache every time i used it from whiplash.  i dont remember exactly what the ratings were but it was hot...like 150hp.  the entire motor was rebuilt to be able to sustain that HP...including heavier fuel pump, plugs, timing, etc

adding nitrous to my truck is on my to-do list someday.  supposedly 100hp is perfectly safe.  the reason i prefer it in this application is because it doesnt have all the excess bs that would be required for a turbo or supercharger.  not like i dont have enough room under the hood.

what motor is it?

ZEX makes some solid products if you are serious about it, a bottle opener, good wet-shot solenoids (both solenoids in one box) and with a clean install, no one would ever know.

EDIT: I tap on the hi-pressure line before the regulator. tapping on the tester port causes a huge drop in fuel pressure as soon as you hit the Nitrous.

Ah, thanks. Of course it would work better for turbocharging. I read about a guy who has the same car as me and used WMI, apparently the effects were quite noticeable, though I guess the car is so light you would notice minor differences.

To be honest though I would agree with you and would spend money elsewhere anyway, though I don't have too many cheap options of raising power for my particular engine (other than maybe a junkyard turbo or something).

6.8L V10

Im not concerned with hiding it...nitrous isnt illegal here. I can't fathom why it would be illegal anywhere

I have other projects to attend...moat pressing is my bike.  Someday hopefully ill get around to nitrous-ifying my truck

I wouldn't go crazy on a stock mod motor, but I'd definitely trust a 150 wet shot on it.

I'm guessing there has been street racing problems here. it sounds like a law made for the fucks sake of making a law though.

I miss my bike, but unfortunately I have nowhere to store one at the time

My plan was 100. Im not doing anything until I rebuild my tranny to be able to support the added hp. Supposedly 4r100s are shit if you try to feed them much more than 400hp. It only has 90k miles so I have plenty of time before it needs it

Thats why politicians should be banned. Its their fault no one can have nice things

Your dorm room.  When I was in the military I kept my bike in my room...although it was on the 1st floor

I live on the second floor, and there is no elevator. also, the room is already full of shit, last thing we need is a motorcycle.

transmissions tend to get forgotten about when people add power, then they fuck up their shit. the T5 used in the fox body mustangs couldn't support too much more than the stock motor. so cam/headers/carb/nitrous and you spin gears like crazy. there is no cheap alternative.

I doubt the BMW motor would benefit from methanol. good headers would go a long ways.
