Camel Cigarette Maker Bans Smoking In Offices
« on: October 26, 2014, 04:33:46 am »
Camel cigarette maker Reynolds American Inc has banned smoking from its offices and buildings.

The company has informed its employees that the use of traditional cigarettes, cigars or pipes will no longer be allowed at desks or offices, conference rooms, hallways and elevators.

The ban enters into force next year, once the company builds smoking areas for those still wanting to light up indoors.

Smoking is already banned on factory floors, in cafeterias and fitness centres.

A spokesman for Reynolds - based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and is the nation's second-biggest tobacco company - said the new policies "will better accommodate both non-smokers and smokers who work in and visit our facilities".

"We're just better aligning our tobacco use policies with the realities of what you're seeing in society today," David Howard said.

While Reynolds will no longer allow smoking, it will allow the use of smokeless tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes and moist snuff.

Through its subsidiaries, Reynolds American also makes Pall Mall cigarettes, Grizzly smokeless tobacco and Vuse-branded electronic cigarettes.

Altria Group Inc, the owner of Philip Morris USA, does not allow smoking on factory floors and in places like elevators or hallways, a spokesman said.

The company has designated smoking areas in office buildings, conference areas and cafeterias.

They used to allow smoking at my high school.. Took it away, and then it recent years brought it back for those who were 18.. Unsure of the current status. Besides the time I got into a fight, all the times I was sent to in-school suspension was due to smoking.. after a while the teachers would just tell you to get rid of it and put on cologne and hurry back to class.. lol..
The woods are lovely, dark and deep. But I have promises to keep, and miles to go before I sleep.

The very same hypocrites who insisted for decades that cigarette smoke was perfectly safe and wasted billions of taxpayer dollars trying to prove it. Nice.
