This is also not how it went down ON YOUR OWN SITE

In thread specifically about technical or very in depth information posts were to stay pertinent to the information at hand. If someone thinks they have something else to talk about they are more than welcome to make another thread about the unrelated topic. Again the example I use is one from W&C like my thread comparing the AK 47 and M16 and the differences in operation the content of that thread should be about that topic, SINCE THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE CLICKED ON THE THREAD IN THE FIRST PLACE TO READ, not the values of disarmament or anyone's personal politics that should be taken to their own but also allowed threads about those topics in the section.

I appreciate your input.  As you know, it's a delicate situation.

If it is spam, it is policy to remove those posts.  Otherwise, who are we to decide what content should or should not remain on the site?  Blatant derailers will be infracted and subsequently banned for offenses, but the posts will remain unless it is spam.

Right, I understand you plan to punish blatant derailers but I don't understand why you won't clean up the mess.  Isn't that kinda like punishing a theif but letting him keep everything he stole?  Or arresting a graffiti artist but not washing their paint off the wall?  I mean, if you're just going to leave it up, why even punish them?  What effect will that have, if any?

Any responce?

Well said Spectre and how people can't understand the "damage" that is created by ALLOWING off-topic tripe to remain just baffles me. SO MANY SECTIONS on Totse were utterly destroyed by allowing trolls to exercise their "free speech"(?) with complete impunity...and it will chase away potential users. Most of the sections that discussed religion, the paranormal, conspiracies became so IRRELEVANT and worthless....because you had an army of kidiots that would troll the threads because they didn't like or agree with the subject matter.

I don't give a fuck if people want to flame me later in B&M or somewhere else for next 10 years fowhatever beliefs in any thread...but ruining a topic with nonsensical flames..."Herp. Derp, you believe in ghosts, watch out for Casper"....only taints the productive discussions. Flame wars then ensue, and next you have is pages and reams of nonsense and insults being thrown back and forth, all the while the original discussion gets lost in the MESS (that should have been cleaned up). Someone new to the boards interested in such discussion clicks on said thread and finds nothing more than dimestore insults and 4-chan memes as "contribution"....they'll go on their merry way and look elsewhere. You haven't attracted or retained a potential new "quality"  contributor. instead just chased them off to find another corner of the internet.

That should be common sense and easily understandable for ANYONE that has spent just a couple of hours on message forums. And hiding under the guise/EMPTY RHETORIC of "free speech" is what got us here today. Totse finally closing down because of the army of trolls that nobody took the time or care to remove, and let their mindless graffiti remain. And Zoklet taking it even further with lesser quality forums, and the irrelevance of the information was even worse.

Why repeat history a third time, and allow off-topic childish and just outright STUPID responses remain on a thread if you SINCERELY want a quality forum for discussion?

Spectral doesn't contribute everyone knows that lol.

You used to be a heavy kidiot spammer as well. I guess I'd have to painfully concede that you've kind of grown up over the years. I still see traces of the old zok jr., but it's not so lame now as to be excruciatingly pathetic as it was in the past. Good work, kid. Some day you might just be someone to contend with.
I've never spammed anything but thanks I guess?

I acknowledge your logic and your suggestion.  That's where we stand at this time so that's all I have.

At a risk of sounding like a politician, I appreciate your patience and your constructive criticisms.

As far as starvingniglet quoting my response in the other thread, that's fine, but understand that things could change.  The only constant thing in life in change.  I'm also not afraid to admit that I could be wrong.  I've been married long enough to know that I'm wrong more than I'm right.  But I will do my best to be fair, respectful, logical, and consistent.

what do you think about having a place set aside for true 'free speech', like HB and possibly SG?  Like in the nerds candy analogy?  You never really gave an opinion either way, that I noticed at least.

Am I correct in reading this as there is some sort of issue with me quoting posts from one thread and using them in another?  If so, that is totally fucking moronic

If not, then never mind me, I have this chip on my shoulder, see, and....you get the idea

I appreciate your response but what I'm looking for is an explanation and apparently only Arnox can explain this.  So I guess I have to wait.  But I'm not holding my breath.   As time goes on he seems to be ignoring legitimate concerns and making illogical decisions.  I sincerely hope that doesn't become the norm.

No, you are not correct.  Sorry if that's what I insinuated.

I just thought that when you said, "quoted, to avoid future revisionism," you were implying that what I say is written in stone and that things never change and I'm never wrong.  Both of those things happen all the time.

Flick that chip.

While my initial gut reaction still leans towards the analogy I provided in the other thread (retards mingling with a Playboy Mansion party)....I also understand in the spirit of "compromise" ...some concessions have to be made. If the slobberers need their playpen, make that arena HB....because that was never the spirit of SG or its purpose, they are NOT similar in any way, shape or form.

HB titled thread= "Herp Derp. DaGuru believes in Casper" (of course with the predictable oncoming clone thread "DaGuru believes in Capers"

SG title thread="Thinking of going as Casper on Halloween, any thought or ideas?"

I'm not sure why people continually confuse and intermingle those 2 forums.....the culture and purpose isn't the same, nor are the descriptions of the expectations of either forum even remotely similar.

But having more than one place would give shitposters the illusion of 'choice', it would also make it that much more relevant when someone is infracted for OT posting in other threads..."You guys have multiple places to post this stuff, there is no excuse for derailing this thread...blah blah'  you get the idea

We keep it there mostly out of proof that the person has committed an offense but also because other people might have responded to the derailment/quoted it and it reads wrong when you remove the offending post.

The old cliche....."give them an inch, and they still ask for a mile" comes to mind. Personally, I don't give a fuck about coddling "shit posters" and they should just be grateful they have any  playpen to flick boogers back and forth at each other. Your rhetoric of "giving them choices" so they feel better about themselves just gives them the wrongful belief they are on the same level as the actual viable contributors when in fact all they really are is shit posters.

That's like saying indigent welfare recipients should all have mansions provided for them, just so they feel like they fit in with the elite/upper class. We ain't here to stroke egos or comfort emotionally fragile people....I thought it was about ADULT discourse and not too much more than that.

So infract the guy who INITIATED the derailing, and remove all the bullshit no matter where it came from. How fuckin difficult is that? You are feigning as if this is so complicated, when nothing could be any easier.

If a guy attempts to mug me in broad daylight in front of witnesses, and I end up beating him to a bloody and unconscious pulp on the sidewalk.....you gonna just leave him laying there as "evidence" to his crime? OF course not, you'll haul his ass of to jail, call a cleaning crew in to remove the blood and guts off the sidewalk so future pedestrians don't have to tip-toe around or completely avoid the gore.

Could there by anything easier, or more basic common sense than that?
