What about doom 3?
Actually, that's one of my all time favorite games to speedrun for fun. When you do that, the whole game immediately changes from some crawl in the dark back to how it should have been. A think-fast shoot first, ask questions later game.
Although, if you're really looking for a modern game that sticks really closely to that old style gameplay, I would HEAVILY recommend Serious Sam: TFE, TSE, and BFE.
