This story is so sad.  Angry guy causes a scene because some kids are being obnoxious (as kids will).  According to his testimony, he thought one of the people in the car was reaching for a gun and acted in self-defense by firing 10 times into the vehicle.  There were no weapons found in the SUV.

After killing the guy, he went to his apartment, had a drink, ordered a pizza and walked his dog.  Was probably really freaked out :/

The DA's in a lot of these shooting cases seem to be over reaching with these charges I could see them charging him with something and getting the conviction but 1st degree seems massively extreme

Don't be ridiculous.

However they came to finding him guilty of first degree murder, he was already sentenced with 90 years for second degree attempted murder on the other 3 people he was shooting at.  Guy was going away for a very long time regardless, but maybe could have spent his last years a free man.

Rightfully so. Dude is a retard. Why would you risk your life over something so trivial? Even IF they had guns, no fucking way would he be alive if they actually intended to kill him. He wasted 10 shots and only killed one person, if they wanted to and had the means, i'm pretty sure 12-16 rounds x 3 would have fucked his day up good.
