What albums are you anticipating?
« on: June 22, 2014, 08:13:59 am »
I used to be a fan of several bands and would buy everything they released, but now I'm in my mid-twenties, busy with work and family etc, I don't really have the time or money to invest in music like I used to.

Saying that, I was really excited when I found out that a new Tool album was in production and check news and fan sites regularly for more news. I've been a fan of Tool since Schism was released as a single in 2001 and since then I've bought their last two albums on day one. I know when a new Tool album comes out that it's guaranteed to be brilliant and have years and years of replayability.

Another album I would be excited to see is a new System of a Down album, only because I was a fan since the first album and I'm curious to see if they've still got the magic, ie; they produce things greater than the sum of their apparently mediocre parts. All the solo and sideband shit that's crawled out during this recording hiatus (coming up nine years...fuck) has been garbage IMO, so I'm not holding out for much if they do ever release another album, but I'd really like to be proven wrong with SOAD.

I wish Jeff Rosenstock didnt bum everyone out and fucking drop Bomb the Music Industry! after like 10 years of making tons of awesome music.

Now all i have left is waiting for my fucking T-Shirt to come in the mail with my download code for the stupid fucking movie and feel like I'm still a part of a musical lifestyle from my youth.

I'm allowed to pretend music hasn't totally gone to shit right? Honestly I can't say there is anything as of right now that I can think of and say "hmm, well it'd be awesome if this group made a new album". The only shit I listen to is rap and classical/prog and punk lately, that and my dad and brother's drum and bass jazz fusion/prog band. Nothing new excites me anymore in the music world unless it's local talent.

I Take back my first statement, I look forward to some of the local musicians back home in B-low producing more music because it's spot on and they fucking rock, bands like Whiskey Reverb:

(listen to Middle)
Well Worn Boot :
http://www.wellwornboot.com/media.html
and fuck it here's my dad and my brothers band, Ish Kabbible:
http://www.reverbnation.com/ishkabbible

These guys always make more music. I'm excited to see bands make more music more frequently than what commercial music is. As for SOAD, Serj won't even play in America anymore from what I was told by some more-diehard-than-me fans, and as lovely as it would be to hear the original band together again, I can safely and happily still strain my vocal chords singing to every single word off of steal this album and toxicity.
Then this ebony bird beguiling my sad fancy into smiling,
By the grave and stern decorum of the countenance it wore.
Though thy crest be shorn and shaven, thou," I said, "art sure no craven,
Ghastly grim and ancient raven wandering from the Nightly shore —
Tell me what thy lordly name is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven, "Nevermore."

Honestly, the only albums I look forward to are game OST's. And even then, only for certain games I know will have good soundtracks. Elder Scrolls is a prime example. Unreal Tournament as well. (UT2003/4's album suck though)
