Guess it's time to remove Zoklet from my favorites menu, or maybe I'll leave it for memories.

so sad. sometimes i still catch myself about to automatically type in "zoklet.net" on my phone whilst pooping. then i realize it's not there and stare at my screen for a good while, wondering what site i actually want to visit.

I hope Zok is slumped back in his chair with a large exit hole in his head and a terrible mess on the wall behind him.

It's what he deserves.

Why?

RIP zoklet. You were never nearly as good as totse, but at least it was something. For that matter, RIP totse.

I'm hoping that the community can migrate to a site that isn't ran by Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, and Mort Jewishstien himself. I think with the right decisions we could build a great community out of the ashes. Totse didn't spring up overnight, and it's foolish for all these admins to assume their site will by piggybacking on the userbase.

I'm certainly optimistic but I don't think it likely. The internet has changed. It was rare enough to find someone capable of hosting such a site in the first place, now the would be totseans end up at reddit or 4chan long before we would ever hit their radar. And from there they go to the deep web if they want to discuss things in real free speech. Totse was an amazing concept, but the circumstances that lead to its success are long gone. I think that that time of the internet is behind us now. The only hope was totse itself surviving, an older well established site could manage to continually draw in new useful members, but to start from scratch (essentially) in this day an age, isn't really feasible. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. We will make some sort of community, but will it ever come close to, or rival, what totse was? I'd bet on definitely not. Those days are done, and will probably never return. Sad to say, but true.

I don't think it's beyond the realm of possability for a community similar to Totse to thrive.

What 4chan doesn't have is identity, which on Totse was a fairly big thing. We pretty much all knew one another by our handle very well and nobody else could use it but us.

What Reddit doesn't have is the STRUCTURE. Sure, I could spend hours sifting through subreddits, or I could just pop on over to that section of the site and get some input.

The problem with here is that it's once again a site trying to be bigger than it is. The sections need to be consolidated.

The problem with my site is 1) None of you like me and 2) I bring nothing to the table in terms of information.

If some of you want to let me know what I could do to bring you over to my site just let me know, because I think we need a community where the COMMUNITY input matters.

I don't even know what your site is, but the points you bring up don't address the fundamental problems that I brought up. The fact that I would never find your site via a google search is one the main problems. And yes, I don't like 4chan or reddit due the issues you said and others. Doesn't change the fact that all the members that used to end up on totse end up on 4chan/reddit/deep web now. Of course if anything gets popular it can snowball, the problem is getting it started. In this day and age the recruitment potential is nothing compared to what it was in the totse era and I don't see any realistic way to change that. You can pull a spectral and blame sections or policy or whatever, but the reality is that the internet itself has greatly changed since those days.

It depends on what it is you're looking for, really. For example "research chemicles" brought up Zoklet for quite a while. The users don't necessarily HAVE to end up on Reddit. If we, as a community, bring something to the table, be it intelligence, entertainment, or simple a place where someone feels they belong in some way, we can capture more people.

I think people underestimate the viability of an online community. The internet hasn't changed THAT much, it's just gotten more crowded with stupid people. Let's bring the smart ones home.

Which brings me to another point, Totse wasn't about doing illegal shit, it was about learning.

Yeah, 4chins is kind of a cesspool but at least it's populated. I can go make a thread about pretty obscure shit and get at least a couple of replies. The main reason I still hang around forums is that the lack of identity makes it hard to have a sustained argument. With peer-level anonymity people will either just disappear or change their position and claim to be someone else.  The thing that keeps me coming back to the totse brood are those 10 page threads with like two posters going back and forth over some topic. The feeling of victory when you finally corner someone between a pair of quotes they made, or the moment of realization you're just dead wrong when someone does the same, it's something I've never seen outside of a BBS context.

I hope Zok is slumped back in his chair with a large exit hole in his head and a terrible mess on the wall behind him.

It's what he deserves.

Why?

By accumulation Zok wasted several decades of the userbases' lives. He ignored, derided and belittled those who refused to join his jerk circle, despite been told countless times over a period of nearly ten years things were going to shit. His troll thread to end all troll threads at the very end was the icing on the cake.

The man should do the honourable thing.
