Repairing TV
« on: October 05, 2014, 10:29:38 pm »
I have a huge back lit HDTV that doesn't turn on anymore. I think it was damaged due to humidity/moisture because my basement flooded (no water actually reached the set) I plug it in and the indicator light turns on but the screen itself is black. No menu items nothing. I think the back light is just burned out. I took it apart and looked at the capacitors and they're all fine so before anyone posts those youtube videos, its not the capacitors.

Anyone know if humidity can damage circuit boards or cause lamps to burn out prematurely? Where/how do i get a replacement or link to a guide on how to replace them or any general advice? I have no idea how much it would cost to get professionally repaired...

could be a blown transformer... did the water reach the mains where the TV was plugged in, or did it cause a general power outage?

water never touched anything near the TV. If anything it was just humidity/water vapor/condensation on the board after it was removed from humid environment.

I really think it's just the CCFL(?) bulb is out - anyone know if CCFL connectors are all the same socket? If I rip one out of a smaller tv or monitor will it fit into the connector for my tv?
