Totse memories
« on: October 05, 2014, 08:26:36 pm »
TLDR:  I remember LULZ on the original Totse.

It's late December 2003,   I'm on my dads computer looking up explosive textfiles and stumble apon TOTSE.    after a few days of reading outdated explosive texts from mostly 1980's textfiles at that point I found the forums,   this rapidly became my favorite place to go to in my spare time.   while my friends played street hockey or baseball I was online gaining knowledge about things that I was sure I would be arrested for later on or killed in the process of trying.

After a year of lurking the forums I joined under the name of ".38caliber25" on January 30 2005,  my home at that time was the W&C, DIY and Bad Ideas (Night-Op's thread mostly) sections.

I will add more memories as I remember them but below are a few you may find interesting/funny/shocking etc.

One of the First memories I have of TOTSE in 2005 was the Wintermute Incident.    Wintermute was a mod at Totse who gained Admin status,  people didn't like this so the "Totse Army" went into action and the first order of battle was to dig for PI.  They hit the jackpot when they discovered nude pics of her (9 in total but only 5 exist today).   The Totse Army spammed these pics into every corner of the site,   the result was wintermute banning everyone who posted the pics,  who quoted the pics and who talked about her or the pics.   almost 250 members lost accounts in a little over 24 hours.

she quit soon after and the 250 banned users had the accounts reactivated (a few never returned though)

Another early memory was on a Totse video chat in late 2005,   guy drunk out of his mind decides to show off his daily carry pistol by putting it to his head and pulling the trigger.  he had dropped the mag but never cleared the chamber.  RIP dude.

IRC chat,  guy named Ripper decided to end it all by taking all the drugs he could lay his hands on in one go.   someone called the paramedics for his city but it was to late.  DOA.

If anyone else has any memory's of totse or zoklet post em up.    no trolling or off topic posts please.

My memories of zoklet and totse have all but blurred together. Best memories that quickly come to mind though:

Jenkem
Bunny Meatball Saga
That dude who died doing night ops
Joe Pedo
Jacktttek (sp)
WAN's asian picture.

I only signed up in '07 so i wasn't around for a  bunch of stuff but the jenkem incident was hilarious with news reporters calling it butthash.  I think we had a pretty good section of drawball owned in '08 thought that was cool at the time. Then the incident of that spare admin account, enigma, got taken over by spectral and he deleted HB. Vaguely remember something about the domain expiring and some shit went down but I don't recall exactly. The one about the gun you mentioned, this guy on zoklet was on cam and was cleaning his gun and accidental discharge directly into his heart, can't remember his name. There's more i'll remember I'm sure once someone else posts it.

That was hilarious when we gained control of the Enigma admin account by setting up an e-mail server on the expired NirvanaNET domain and resetting the password through it. Then we hard deleted Half Baked entirely and made some new mods and tossed a few proven morons, all overnight. Then the next morning Jeff posted directly beneath his own Enigma account's post and didn't even notice. Enigma then started giving the staff shit for mutiny, and laughs ensued. A week later, the real Jeff showed up again and wondered why everyone was so rattled. LOL

We could just as easily have hard deleted the entire Totse database, all the text files and all the backups, but we weren't that evil. ;)

Didn't they even let some of those mods stay on?  That was pretty funny Spec, even though you deleted my beloved HB :(
