My friend wants to know if you can re-enter the store where you just shoplifted at with the stolen merchandise in pocket, will the meter go off?

heh, did the tower go off the first time he went through?  I predict that 'your friend' will have a long and successful shoplifting career.

He hasn't shoplift yet. If my friend tries to steal gift cards and they go off will they then go off again if he tries to return and put em back on the rack?

They will not go off unless they have shit like

Or

on them.  Make sure none of these are on the outside of the package, or if the item you are after is in a box,  like with medicines, how they have a box and a bottle inside them, sometimes they put them in the boxes.

There is nothing wrong with asking such things in a post instead of PMs, because others who read these posts may like to learn too.  As long as you don't confess illegal activity, no one gives a fuck.

IF there is a security tag on it, and the security tag has not been deactivated, then it will make the sensors alarm. Your direction through the gates makes no difference at all.

Better thing to do would be to drop the active tag into some chick's purse as she's headed into the store. Sit back and enjoy the fun.
Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy.
