I tried to catch that spider in the picture with my hand but it was too fast so I slapped it with a 'ted nugents greatest hits' CD case.  It fucking ran away, but the next day I found it dead in the middle of my living room.

it probably wasnt the same one.  most likely one of its relatives hunting you while you sleep

I usually leave them. I actually had this one that built it's Web right in between my headboard and the wall.  He was chilling there for a few days, while I slept, and then disappeared.  I have one nested near my bedroom door right now, and probably a couple in my living room.

They're like pets to me.

Keep a fan running in your room and remove their webs, They'll build somewhere else because they don't like the disturbed air. That or get a cat that likes to eat bugs.

Did you know OP on average a human swallows a spider eight times a year in their sleep?

Also Crabs are spiders as well, Thought I'd ruin that for youl.  ;D

Moving into a house thats been empty for 10+ years equals a lot of spiders...lucky for me my cats love to hunt so I will sometimes find half eaten spiders all over the house... not so much anymore but for the first year the cats got really fat!

I've found diatomaceous earth to be very effective. Most insects don't care for it, so they'll steer clear of it. Simply powder it along the edges of walls where they like to roam and hope for the best? There's really no other way to do it without killing them or going near them.

Would you recommend it for people who have pets in the house? (AKA pet friendly?)

Yes! That's actually why I bought it in the first place! Look it up, some people even mix diatomaceous earth with their pets food to help digestion. You can use it to give your pets a dry bath, too. I'm not even kidding. You can breath it in, get it on your skin and eat it. So can your pets. It's absolutely harmless.
