Truly though, for anyone involved in crime on a daily basis for any length of time, there is a palpable feeling of the walls closing in, of the rats beginning to nibble in hunger...Fear & loathing.

I know it's a quote, but, I only ever had paranoid feelings when I was being sloppy or doing something more risky than usual.

oops sorry, that wasn't a quote from fear and loathing. those words were my own, the "fear & loathing" is a homage because I roughly paraphrased his sentiments because they ring true

indeed you can be a smart criminal and I believe I've done pretty good considering I haven't been in jail yet, but there's no way to avoid eventually making mistakes. And those mistakes add up after years and years.

No. For some reason if enough time has passed, like a year or two, it's like I never even did those awful things. Even though this sounds kind of humorous, does anyone get what I mean? It's like nothing counts if enough time has passed, since you're a different version of yourself. You don't feel bad or nervous or guilty, because you don't even feel like you did it.
